Thats why Morey has a job as an NBA GM... and the writer....is stuck in Phili writing about overrated and underperforming teams...
WOW I am abosolutely speechless that, out of all people, you think Lin is our franchise player?? Did you also pull TO stats out of thin air? There were any stats that I can find on team TOs for preseason games, so I took the time and went through each team. Preseason TO stats to Oct 22nd: (least TO's to the most) Rank-Team-TO's/game 1. Atlanta 13.7 2. Brooklyn 15 2. Knicks 15 4. Washington 15.3 5. Philadelphia 15.5 6. Charlotte 15.6 7. Milwaukee 15.8 7. Utah 15.8 9. Rockets 16 9. Toronto 16 9. Golden State 16 12. Kings 16.6 13. Indiana 16.8 14. Memphis 17 14. LAL 17 14. OKC 17 17. Orlando 17.3 18. Portland 17.6 19. Phoenix 17.8 20. Cleveland 18 20. Minnesota 18 22. Miami 18.2 22. SAS 18.2 24. Detroit 18.3 25. Chicago 18.6 25. Boston 18.6 27. Dallas 18.8 27. NOH 18.8 29. Denver 20 30. LAC 20.6
I think he meant roster turnover and not actual turnovers in game. I don't really mind it because there's no reason to stand pat when you got a mediocre roster.
So Moreyball's successful now? Feel free to provide your "facts" supporting how the Rockets have benefited from it
"Moreyball"is predicated on surrounding a Star player with cheap but good talent. Morey was successful in doing that when he surrounded Yao and McGrady with Brooks, Artest and Scola. The Rockets could have gone to te finals that year if Yao had not gotten hurt. Morey lost his star to injury and guess what? They don't grow on trees.
has potential to attractive all-star players and to bring this team back to playoffs again? noh, just kidding.
So your taking us back 4 or 5 years back huh? Lol. How does Moreyball account for retaining players? How can you convince a superstar to come here if you keep a nucleus here more than two years? What Morey's essentially doing is balancing the checkbook over successfully rebuilding a franchise. Moreyball's flawed logic with too many holes in it. Your too smart of a poster to be drinking the coolaid. Cmon bro
Analytics are merely tools of evaluation combined with many other tools used to evaluate talent. Every team uses analytics, just like scouting, and draft drills, and scrimmages. Retaining players has nothing to do with "Moreyball". It is a choice the organization has made because they believe it is the quickest way to get a superstar. Your "balancing the checkbook" anaogy makes zero sense.
