depends, he's getting paid big this year but say he stays and is a backup next year he'll get cut and be one year older he won't get a big contract.

On the other hand, he can agree to a contract restructure that pays him less this year but gives him security over the long-term. Plus there is added value of being a starter, and Matt would also want to leave Houston knowing that the fans hate him.

Could be a deliberate leak to get Cleveland to budge.

I could see a deal that gets us McGloin, we would get rid of Schaub so the masses will be happy while getting a stop-gap with ties to BOB.

This. Not only would he get his choice of where to go, but he'd probably make more money. He'd get his $10M+ whether he's cut or traded. If he's cut, he still gets that money, plus whatever deal he gets from his new team. And his new team doesn't have to give up a draft pick. If he renegotiates his contract for a trade, he makes less money. So it's in his best financial interest to refuse to renegotiate, force a cut, and sign a new contract, getting paid by both the Texans and his new team.

Restructuring only really makes sense for Schaub if he's doing it to stay here.

Yes they do. One bad year in a collective failure and now he's the worst QB in the league?

You shouldn't expect so much out of them. The average fan only knows what ESPN or talk radio tells them.....which means almost nothing.
