That stretches out to an astonishingly low 79ppg over an entire game.

There's no way Morey trades Asik for pennies on the dollar at the deadline. The guy's a defensive beast and worth a lot for the Rockets even with limited play.

Asik is a good defensive player, no doubt, but an 11 minute stretch against the worst team in the league doesn't say all that much.

Against the other team's second unit. With a sample size of 11 minutes. This is a case where you least want to be pulling out stats.

Let's get some quality teams. I know it was on the road but still Bucks are by far the worst team out of those 30 to draw conclusions from.

Small sample size much? Plus we were playing a short-handed and crappy Bucks team that also lost Larry Sanders before Asik even entered the game.

Morey isn't dumb. His trades are usually dollar for dollar if not more. Asik clearly can provide value but if a star is available before the deadline he's absolutely a goner.

It is noteworthy because it is an extension of what Asik has done his entire career.

    Opponent Points per Possession

    With just Howard: 1.05
With just Asik(includes last year): 1.03
    With neither(this year): 1.22

If you want to put the caveat that the Asik was playing against opposing 2nd units. Those same second units put up what would be league leading offensive numbers when Dwight sat on the bench this year.

Edit: In addition, the Bucks scored 104 points against us earlier in the year in Houston. So obviously the Rockets are not exactly shutting down this team.

Seriously it's like people want guys torching us when we play the bench or something.

Even though it was a small sample size against the worst team, Asik's presence was noticeable and dearly missed. How many times have we seen the Rocket's bench just give up layup after layup. Tonight was very rusty for Omer, yet just having him center the paint instead of an undersize Jones or a weak Dmo is just so refreshing. As much as I want to Omer and the Rockets to settle this by any means, having Omer for now and playing is just great.

Eh, he kinda sucked today. Granted, 10 minutes and first game back. If we keep him and he accepts his role, I'd love that. But we still need a 3 and D player.

Small sample size my ass. We saw what he did all of last year and saw what he is still capable of doing earlier this season. Its too bad it isn't going to work out in Houston but stop hating.

Exactly. I mean, I can't be the only person who sees layups after layups every time Dwight leaves the game, right? The fact that those layups turn into jumpers is worth more than any offense DMo or Jones can provide.

The thing I noticed when Asik was on the floor, giving up 2nd chance pts off of offensive rebounds and putbacks.

Small sample size my butt. He did the same when he was in Chicago and with us last year. He is a premier defensive player. He's not intimidating like Howard, but he always seems to be in good position especially in defending the PnR.

No reason those 2 guys can't play alongside Asik is there?

All he has to do is come on and give us 15 minutes of 'Howard rest'. Surely D-Mo or Jones could be playing alongside him (and Casspi could be given a comfy armchair to sit in and watch?)
