Another 'AAAA' player? Too good for DL, not good enough to stick on three rosters in last four months? Too bad.

Almond can play in the league. He needs a legit shot. He is better than many bench wings in the NBA right now. Guaranteed contracts keep players waiting. If Almond were here for summer league and during our training camp instead of Chase, we would all be raving about how good he is.

He is just not quick enough laterally......he is a Mike Harris type....good, but not good enough to stick.

He might find a spot and become a Mario Elie type of player, but I think the Rockets have enough wings these days.

Almond needs to go to Europe. He'll earn more and get some actual playing time. As for him joining the Rockets...I'll pass. I would rate all our players plus Beck higher than Morris.

He's just about as quick as Jermaine Taylor imo.
They're pretty similar players coming from similar college basketball backgrounds i.e. both were the go-to scorers for their teams in Conference USA.

Sucks for both Mike Harris and Morris Almond... Rice basketball is getting better so hopefully future Rice draftees are not in the same boat.

You can't say he "needs a legit shot" when he was a 1st round pick. When your original team doesn't even pick up your option, and then you get waived on a team who prefers roster space over your minimum salary, it's pretty damning.

Lol Ill never understand why people on this board want players that have been cut by multiple teams and had numerous stints in the D Leauge. But it does make you wonder how guys like ryan bowen/ brian scalabrene/ mark madsen stick around but guys like morris almound, von wafer, kirk snyder cant find jobs

Are you saying he's like Harris because they both went to Rice or because their games are similar?

Almond > Harris all day long.

I think the Rockets could get some production from Morris Almond. He wasn't just good in college - he was superb. Almond dominates the d-league so it's no use for him to go there again. He should go overseas and play against better competition but keep his name in the mix for an NBA gig. I still believe he is NBA caliber. I wouldn't be upset at all if the Rockets picked him up and gave him a shot.
