Many of you watched the high-school all-star game which pitted the best from the United States versus the best from the rest of the world. While watching this game (which Darius Miles participated in) it was *readily* obvious who the best talent on the court was -- Olumide. In addition to his gifted athleticism and rebounding, he showed the two most important attributes in my mind -- leadership and competitive fire. He is doing all of this at the age of 19. I like the idea of the Rockets grabbing him at the #9 slot quite a bit. Not only does he fill a need for rebounding, but he brings Rudy's favorite quality to the court, "A heart of a champion". Additionally, this guy doesn't fit the thug mold of today's NBA athlete. He has significatnly more character than these types who go out and blow their money and free time on jewelry, new rims for their sports car, and drugs. He is not some thug who was raised on the streets and has a bad attitude (Rasheed, Iverson). Comments? ------------------ I am the game -- because I am that damn good.
Welcome to the greatest thing to happen to the internet since www.swirve.com! I still want Moiso, but I wouldn't be upset at this selection. Now if I hear that we selected Courtney Alexander, and a trade doesn't happen that night, then I will no longer be a Rockets fan.* *-sarcasm alert ------------------ "Go to hell Costas"-Dave Nelson after sweeping the ABSCAs on NewsRadio visit www.swirve.com [This message has been edited by Rocketman95 (edited June 23, 2000).]
Rman-Thanks for that alert I wouldn't say best talent. Best big man talent, it's very hard to say he's more talented that Miles. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better.
But Dean we need rebounding and we need big men. I think we are doing fine with the line-up we have at the 1,2 and 3 slot. Olumide would be a great choice for the Rockets! ------------------ I'm tha hip hop attracta, rapper slash acta, right back at cha!
I only want the Rockets to draft a player who attended the University of Cincinnati. Trade and get KMart or stay at #9 and get Johnson. ------------------
I'd guess Oyedeji gets some consideration at #9 (especially if he can swing between the 4 and 5). But I'd also have to give at least some thought to Etan Thomas if I'm drafting a PF banger. The thought of Cato and E. Thomas playing our interior defense gives me goose bumps. ------------------
Etan Thomas definitely deserves some looks by 9. This guy is definitely a banger, but for some reason I see him going around 11 to 15. Thomas will should prove to be a good pro ------------------
