Yea. That seemed to be the theme all year. One that bit us in the butt. Also seemed like we reverted to last years home astros. Remember 2018 when we were stellar on the road but mediocre at home. Tore a page from that book.
This is a masterful troll take. Was Verlander batting and leaving 10 guys on base last night? I know pitchers aren't great hitters, but damn!
Definitely. I remember that being a major problem late in the regular season. I'd hoped at the time it was due to issues like Correa's absence or the team losing focus and just wanting the postseason to begin. But it carried over into the playoffs. All I know is as talented as this Astros team may have been, they never could've pulled off what the 2017 Astros did in Game 5 vs the Dodgers.
obviously a tough loss but the stros had a memorable season as a whole. the bats struggling for the most part of this entire playoff run, especially at home finally caught up to them last night. The stros are definitely going to look a bit different next year but hopefully they can regroup and get right back in the mix of it. big ups to Greinke last night. he was great and gave the stros more than enough to win that game.
Sad that I go to hospitals and see a lot of people wearing Stros stuff during the run. Happy, none of us, or our people didn't burn the city, or tear down the city unlike other cities. We lost 4 home games, we probaly would of lost all the home games remaining in the playoffs if it was played. I rather have this long season than a short season like other teams except the Nationals. 2020!!!!!
Fun season, what a ride but sadly short by one game. Congrats to the Nats they were great competitors. The Astros aren't finished. More young talent about to grow and AJ will keep the ship steady.
Offense failed them. The end. The (so-called) best/deepest lineup in baseball. "JV sucks! This guy sucks! Why did you use this pitcher & not that pitcher! You left this pitcher in too long and that pitcher not long enough!" You only score 2 runs, you're asking your pitcher to be damn near perfect. Outscored 30-11 at home. (Beat them 19-3 on the road). As @mick fry said, 7 of those 11 runs came in the first or second inning. The Astros wouldn’t have made the World Series this season without Verlander, and they don’t win it all in 2017 without him either. 99.9% of Astros’ fans would not be happy if he wasn’t on the team, but, by all means, continue to spew this idiotic take.
It will be interesting to see during off season what players they’ll lose and what players they’ll pick up.
Bats failed the city.... even though we had sharp line outs with runners on. judgement on Grienke. 1. Harris has been money and the cutter on the outside black to Kendrick was a very good pitch.... Kendrick hasn’t hit a cutter all year for a home run... until last night. Cole doesn’t suck in game one we win the series Verlander doesn’t suck in both his starts and we win the series. solid team loss this time, blame for everyone
Wasn't sure whether to post or just stay quiet.... But just wanted to say sorry folks. It was a hell of a World Series, and you guys have a friggin fantastic team! It's a shame it ended the way it did last night with Greinke pitching lights out. He deserved better by a long shot. I am also surprised I didn't see Cole out there last night. Houston's manager definitely made some questionable decisions. Regardless you guys have a very good team and will compete for a long time. It hurts, but the Astros will be back there in no time I'm sure Also I like this board, even when you guys are defeated you are handling it with class (anger which is natural) but class. Hell on talksox forum I remember I had to take a break for a few weeks when the Astros beat the Sox in the playoffs a couple years back. The crying on the board was brutal lol. Regardless, hope to be back here next season and talk with some of you cool folks when the Astros and Sox go at it
I would just say that if your overall enjoyment or opinion of the Astros turns on the results of one game or whether other people consider them a dynasty, then you might want to take a step back and consider if baseball is the sport for you. Feel disappointment, question the what-ifs, but take a few deep breaths before considering the season a waste. Baseball is about the journey of 162 games. The best team rarely wins it all and many of the games best never won a World Series. Of the seven players to be elected to the Hall of Fame with over 98% of the vote, 3 of them never won a World Series, 3 of them only won one, and the other was Mariano Rivera.
18-109 w/risp if you take away the 3 road games against the nats. That’s a clip of .165 over 15 games. How did we we even get to the WS? Amazing. those 3 games in washington elevated it to .212 over the playoffs.
This is tough. Hurts worse this morning actually. That said , I still love this team and really enjoyed the season. They'll be baba. I really hope that they get a deal done with Springs. I know that we are losing Cole
