Reddick had a pitch measured within 2 inches of dead center called a ball last year on a pitcher catcher mix up (catcher popped up as if it was a fastball only to have curve drop dead center).
Verlander's last Win was June 14th. Bullcrap like that will prevent another CYA. This 2nd inning has been terrible, but plenty game remains.
That was very poor awareness by Marwin. While Yuli did get across before Marwin was tagged, he should have at least gotten in a run down to make sure the run crossed. Marwin appeared to have no idea what was happening.
No... First baseman tagged the bag then threw to second for the DP. Run did cross before Marwin was tagged, but see my previous post. EDIT How did the radio describe it?
He can't see the play at 1B, and it can be hard to hear, but the base coaches should both be screaming "TAG" and he should take a look at Pettis who should be signaling him to go back to first. Yuli almost ****ed that up too by lollygagging to home plate.
JV passes Feller on the All-Time Strikeouts List... next Spahn. Verlander has passed ~15 players this season.
Reddick's season has pretty much matched his career production. Everyone talked about Marwin's regression but if you look at the stats Reddick was due for a regression as well. He isn't as good as how he played in 2017 Regular Season. When everyone is hitting the way they were last year, you are going to see better pitches to hit and produce more and you are going to face more weak relievers b/c the strength of your lineup allows you to get deeper into an opponent's bullpen. Unfortunately, Reddick continues to hit very weakly in high leverage situations. That's been a career trend for him. He is a slightly above average hitter in general, but he is a poor hitter in high leverage situations. We've seen this his entire career and last year's playoffs really personified just how much he freezes up in high leverage spots.
If he wasn't aware it was a tag situation at first, then he should have been doing something to break up the DP.
