if we beat the bucs Saturday and the chiefs beat the bears I’m resting most the starters that last week if the bears win then I’d play the titans with starters
That's not necessarily true... He's had a ton of injuries in the last couple of years and they have been major injuries, plus it's not like he's 24 anymore.... A lot of times it takes a longer rehab once you get re-injured... So why even take the chance and put him out there for something that could end his career.. This isn't a Madden Video game... T_Man
The problem with that is the Texans have the tiebreaker with KC. Assuming your scenario plays out---and I think it's most likely---the Texans can still get a better seed by winning week 17, if the Chiefs lose a very loseable game to the Chargers. 3 seed means an easier WC game---Buffalo is not going to be fun as the likely 4 seed opponent. It also means likely going to New England instead of Baltimore for the divisional game. Those factors outweigh the week of rest, IMHO.
His career will not be ended by an aggravation of a torn pectoral muscle. If he’s not strong enough to beat a blocker or not fast enough due to lack of conditioning, he shouldn’t play.... but his pectoral muscle should be healed.
If there's a single iota of possibility that we can get the 3 seed, we must go for it. We've already blown 2 chances this season at solidifying it by losing to Carolina and Denver.
Thought recovery from a torn pec was a four month deal, and really should take longer to alleviate reinjury risk. He got injured, IIRC, on 27 October. Bringing him back for the playoffs, even if they wait until the divisional game on 11-12 January, is going to be less than four months. Hell, it would be less than 3. Not saying that modern medicine and 'nutrition' can't work wonders, but expecting his pec to be fully healed by then seems optimistic.
It’s a muscle. It’s basically healed after inflammation dies down and you have full range of motion. His biggest issue is regaining enough strength to be effective.
Perhaps you have better information than I do. I thought it was a full pectoral tear, away from the pectoralis major tendon, requiring surgical reattachment, and that the whole process---including rehabilitation of range of motion, and rebuilding strength---needed 4 months minimum, or else the patient would be in danger of re-tearing the muscle. If I understand you right, it's more a question of, 'It's healed fully in a month. But you won't have the strength to thrown Quentin Nelson around until Month 4.'
Especially---as appears likely---the Texans don't have a significant pass rush without him. I think they can get through the rest of their games, including the WC game, and be favored without him. They'll need him for NE or Baltimore.
Rehab/conditioning a part of the recovery for sure. The connection heals within 4-6 weeks and that is typically when restrictions are eased and he starts the range of motion training. if he’s already near the part where he’s gaining strength, there’s a good chance he is going to have a shot to play. Or simply be used to fill the gaps while freeing up lanes for others (remember, he was a DT before he was a DL).
The worst he can do is reinjure the pectoral muscle and have the surgery again. Timing dictates that he should be back in time for next season if that were to happen. He will not be playing every single defensive snap. But he will get some 3rd down play for sure.
The 3 seed is important but the chargers have checked out Already and that last game is in KC last thing u want to do is have stills or fuller hammy get pulled and miss the wildcard game the Texans played without fuller last year in the offs and it wasn’t pretty going in healthy and healed > risking injury and not even getting the 3 seed
Using Frank Costanza's idea, I've designed a sportswear to help JJ keep his pecs in place it's all the rave in futbol. It'll be like the elbow sleeve
Fire bill obrien. Calls a terrible game, somehow gets the lead and then screws that up with an unnecessary 4th down play.
