At a minimum he should be able to help mentor Nix, which is why I LOVE this move. If he's at 75% of last year, that's fine. But if he can bring even 50% of Nix's potential out, this will be a plus. Great signing, and unlike Ed Reed we didn't forgo a younger, as talented at this stage of career, player to sign him.
For what it's worth, Wilfork was the 6th best run stuffer as a 3-4 DE in the league according to PFF. I see a lot of Ed Reed comparisons, but nothing to back that up. I'm excited for this signing; he should help the run defense immensely.
He's always been the same size. Yes, he tore his achiles, then he came back a year later and played more snaps than any other NT in the game. At a very high level at that. The dude can flat out play, and with Nix here he'll be able to take a smaller load to keep him fresh later in his career. We're not looking at him in the long term. He's a stop gap for Nix to catch up, and for us to build depth at the position. Why not get a stop gap that's still a badass? And those "cheaper" NT also come with knocks on them. Either not being in shape, personality issues, etc. While Vince is a model citizen that has done it longer, and already knows the scheme at which he'll play in. I'm all in on this addition.
We've NEVER had a nose tackle that I can recall on this team worth talking about. Looking forward to having Wilfork and Watt playing in tandem!

Very classy of the Patriots and Mr. Wilfork. Who said the "Patriot system" has to be ruthless in their dealings with veterans?
At this point I don't even care. Texans are having the best offseason they ever have had. I give them props.
Pretty much tapped now. They could turn Watt's roster bonus into a signing bonus which would allot an extra $8 mil to the cap. Could restructure Cush and get a couple more million. There's definitely room for growth.
