Throw off of his back foot....yuck. They had to know that Wade Phillips was going to bring the house and that the O line wasn't going to even attempt to block them. Stupid play call.
Watson gets the ball out way way, quicker with the same o-line and doesn't have get sacked as much. He's crafty enough and possesses the spatial awareness to step just to the left or right to avoid pressure. That's not just him running. His athleticism isn't helping him in this situation, it's mental. Tom Savages can't process the field and space around him like Watson can.
You should have done that with Hoyer. Yeah Savage made a good throw to Ellington... Who gives a **** when he makes 5 bad plays for every good one? He almost just threw a pick 6 too.
That's on Savage to make the adjustment. He didn't. You're saying he lacks the athleticism? GTFO noob. He lacks all of it. He is not a competent NFL starting QB.
No he doesn't, in fact he holds the ball a LOT longer, the difference is that he buys himself time by running away from those who would sack him because he can win that foot race. Savage can't, so he's gotta rely on the O line to sort of block a little bit.....which is something you can't expect the Texans O line to ever do. Defenses get burned by pressuring Watson when he evades them and picks up yardage and it leads to defenses blitzing less. If Watson couldn't run away and buy himself time, he wouldn't have found the success he did. Make no mistake, he was doing great things with his arm, but with the godawful O line the Texans have, you need the legs too.
If Savage plays like he did at the end of the Colts game, get credit... When he plays like he has for 95% of his career, he should rightfully be criticized.
Clowney's Kryptonite is JJ Watt. It has to be official at this point. SCREW YOU DEFENSE!!!! You're good now!?
