Anyone know why the Jets pick at 18 and the Texans are at pick 20??

I thought the play-off teams automatically got the last 12 picks in the draft.

Barely, and over the last eight years, how have they done at home?

We should pick either #19 or #20 after a coin flip. We are tied with Atlanta.

You are correct that picks #21-#32 are determined after the playoffs.

With Kubiak the past couple years, I believe 6-2 at home or something like that.

Irrelevant. Perhaps Kubiak's home record may be relevant to the discussion, but this team simply isn't what it was in 2006. It's better.

Dunta wouldn't mind if he was franchised? Shocker there...he realizes how much his market value has dropped. Unfortunately for him, he's not getting franchised and he won't see anything near what he values himself.

If the Texans want him back, Rick Smith should tell him consider this past season as part of your total "guaranteed" portion of your next contract. That's how I'd start any negotiation.

"OK, here's a contract for three years and $12 million, it's really a 4-year, $22 million contract if you think about it...."

    That's about average.

Jacques Reeves made just over $3.3 mil, so it might be fair?!?

Too fast of a season again. Congrats to our pro bowlers, and Matt Schaub who's proven himself in the durability and ability categories this year.

I agree with the Dunta thing. No way you franchise him. I like the guy, I really do. From going to games, he seems like a good chemistry guy (despite his stunt earlier this year...which turned out well anyways), and seems to like it here. I liked what he said after the game yesterday about being proud to be a winner.

That said, I say you pay him around 3 mil. per year, plus incentives. He's not worth a ton more than that. The incentives might get him making more around what he thinks he's worth. I say you offer him in the ballpark of 3 years 10-12 million.

I'd just like to see the Texans get a head coach who has the balls to actually watch the big plays. Kubiak's a wimp in the worst way.

    Amen.

That kind of behavior has to have some kind of effect on the players.

I'd be happy with any of those.

    So on a side note.

Clinton Portis. Coming off an injury season, but still a productive back.

I realize he is getting paid a large chunk, but with the Redskins currently in turmoil I wonder if he could be acquired.

Although he is near the age of 30 he would be a very nice complement for our offense, and allow us to not use a draft pick on a running back.

It amazes me how people can be fickle enough to call this season a success when a few plays going differently against NE and we would be calling ourselves another 8-8 failure.
