JUST IN: Bob has already fired the FHC. McClain: "Heard the FHC got on Bill's bad side and did not get along." "Best interest of the T-E-A-M Brian. Didn't like the way he cleaned the facility. Not good enough." Spoiler Very familiar with the local high school janitor. Great guy, working hard every day. Excited to work with him and see what he can do for our facility.
His job duties: Spray Joop or Brut cologne in the air when players walk to the locker room. Those are the colognes I can see Billy O loving.
The Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers are the only teams to bat 1.000 on picking up options since 2011, while the Seattle Seahawks, with only three first-round picks over that span, ranked last with zero options picked up. T-1. Houston Texans: 100 percent Draft | Pick | Player | Option 2017 | 12 | Deshaun Watson | 1 2016 | 21 | Will Fuller V | 1 2015 | 16 | Kevin Johnson | 1 2014 | 1 | Jadeveon Clowney | 1 2013 | 27 | DeAndre Hopkins | 1 2012 | 26 | Whitney Mercilus | 1 2011 | 11 | J.J. Watt | 1 7/7 = 100% Expected pickup rate: 60 percent Actual vs. expected: +40 percent (first) Rick Smith was the Texans’ general manager from 2006 through 2017, so these picks go on his ledger. Houston traded its 2018 first-round choice to Cleveland as part of its move to select Watson. That means the Texans’ streak of exercising options will not end next year, when the 2018 draft class takes its turn. Tytus Howard is the Texans’ next first-rounder to consider, but that decision remains two years away. T-1. Los Angeles Chargers: 100 percent Expected pickup rate: 67 percent Actual vs. expected: +33 percent (second) Tom Telesco became the Chargers’ GM beginning with the 2013 draft. The team released Fluker heading into his fifth season, voiding the option that had been picked up 11 months before. Verrett and Gordon left the Chargers without signing extensions. Bosa should be a high priority for re-signing, while Williams’ fate could hinge on 2020.
After getting blown out 51-7 and going into year 7, we have to settle for a good month? IN THE OFFSEASON? How low can you set the bar man.
What are you disagreeing with? You didn't want Tunsil extended? You dont like the draft the Texans had? Be specific. Or you just dont like BOB or anything he says or does
I can understand anyone who thinks Bill O'Brien is totally full of BS. I remember him starting Tom Savage over Deshaun Watson and O'Brien later saying he wanted to start Watson but Rick Smith thought it was a better idea to start Tom Savage so he started Tom. Now he is somehow in full control of everything making every decision and acting like he wasn't back then. Seems like a guy that would rather win on a reputational level of leadership style and personal values versus just flat out winning football games. All that bs goes into his decision making, how he talks to the media and how he coaches the players.
I was for starting Savage instead of Watson. I wanted Savage to take the beating behing the crap OL that RS neglected. I didn't want Watson to get hurt. We all know the history of what happened. As far as the other stuff goes. One guy has more power than just about anybody in the NFL. The other guy cant get a job in the NFL. That speaks volumes in my mind.
BOB hand picking Savage in the draft and starting him over Watson week one and shortly after Tom Savage doing nothing at all after leaving Houston speaks volumes on a higher level in my mind.
Savage was a 4th rd pick. RS took a flier on Savage, it didn't work out. How many 4th rd QB's workout. Did you think Savage should take the beating Watson took behind that putrid OL? Exactly what I thought would happen to Watson happened.
That's only because he went to the CFL first. You having to go back to the 70's to find a comparison kind of proves my point.
