Hopefully bats pick up, but the pitching has been really encouraging these first few games. The runs are obviously gonna come, but Keuchel, McCullers, and Morton looking so strong is a huge positive sign early. Also think we have on the most underrated bullpens, it's deep as hell and a lot of our bad performers last year still had strong advanced stats.
Two things are likely to happen. The bats will pick up and the pitching might digress towards its average a bit. If I am right, look for higher scoring games soon.
Fiers is trash. Was pretty much trash all year last year. Why is he a starter when everyone knows he sucks?
Every time Fiers pitches, I just shake my head in disbelief. Nothing good comes from him pitching. He's already at 50 pitches and it's the bottom of the 2nd!!
I'd understand if Vargas threw hard or had movement on his heater, but the Astros are just not a good hitting team right now. I have seen a lot of fastballs at 87 over the middle that have yet to be hit. Obviously he has a change up but come on. Edit:Breg rips one.
