Listening to sports talk this morning, they were saying the Raiders pulled the trigger on the trade because Schaub would have most likely signed with the Browns if he had been released.

He could take a bit less to reunite with Kyle Shanahan in Cleveland as rumored.

What happens to the signing bonus portion of his cap hit, we don't retain that, do we? Schaub should be 100% off our books now, right?

Because the Raiders are terrible, he has no connections to the organization and the Browns wanted him and have his OC.

No. We have almost 11 million in dead money this year and then he's off the books forever.

Ridiculous. He put up great numbers here.

We can only hope that we have a better QB than Schaub in the next few years at the helm. There is a chance that by the time Bill O'Brien is fired as the coach of the Texans, Schaub will still be the best QB in franchise history. :(

By being able to dump the horrible contract that he himself created?

So the signing bonus cap hit that is prorated over the life of the contract stays with the team that signed the contract? And if the player is traded, then the cap hit is escalated so that all future signing bonus cap hits are rolled up into the current year?

Seriously. Oh look how smart Rick Smith is! He was able to get a late round pick for a QB he invested heavily in!!!

Schaub being the best QB in franchise history is like saying "Man...to tell you the truth, I can't pick between Mark Brunell or David Garrard as the best QB in Jaguars history"

    Yes.

Signing bonus stays with the team that gave it to him and when you trade it all hits you at once.

Better this way honestly. Rip the band-aid. No need to spread the cap hit out.

I would love to know how the contract of Matt Schaub was offloaded...

PS...The Texans are slated to play Matt Schaub's new Raiders in Oakland...hmm that should be interesting
