If BOB downplayed size in an interview, doesn't that mean we r getting manziel?

This has nothing to do with the salary floor.

Schaub is a good QB who had a terrible year. Teams gamble on QBs like that all the time. The Raiders (wisely) believe that if Schaub becomes a free agent they have no chance to get him, so they are going to trade for him and take the contract.

I know fans here are over Schaub completely, but Schaub was a huge part of what turned a crap stain franchise into a respectable one here in Houston. The Raiders are hoping he has a few years left to finally give them a competent QB.

My only complaint is that if late round pick means 7th round, that's ridiculous. I'd want a 5th at least for him.

If his massive salary applies to their cap, then I have a hard time believing it isn't a plus for them (if they're as far under it as I'm reading, anyway).

    2 birds, 1 stone.

I'd like a 1st for him, but when your options are cut him and take a cap hit or trade him and take a cap hit and get a 7th, you take the 7th.

Much love Raiders, good luck Schaubby. Regardless of the way it ended, we had some good times.

Of course it's a plus, but they aren't trading for him to hit the salary floor. They are trading for him because they want him as their QB and they wouldn't be able to sign him in free agency.

Say what you want about him, he was better than the guy before him.

Would the team be mad if you lived in San Francisco and commuted to Oakland? It's not like there is a team that plays in San Fran anyway.

Lance Z said that cap wise it may be a wash for the Texans. If so, Rick Smith will shush all his haters with this one.

I'm not sure they wouldn't be able to sign him in free agency, if they were willing to pay him the same rate he's getting now. I agree other teams would be interested, but are any other teams willing to pay him that much?

This is pretty much the only compliment you can give to Schaub during his time here.
