Talk about the series here. Please no PBP in this thread. Unless otherwise noted all games are on CSN-H (for about 40% I guess). 7-25 Brad Hand, LHP vs. Dallas Keuchel, LHP 7:10 7-26 Tom Koehler, RHP vs. Jarred Cosart, RHP 6:10 7-27 Jacob Turner, RHP vs. TBA 1:10
Yea I think this upcoming stretch is pretty important for Keuch, needs to show he really is that guy who was dominating before this stretch of poor performance. All great starters have bad stretches, but when there is nothing in your past that screams "dominant starter" then a bad stretch feels different Let's go Keuch, dominate tonight
Keuchel's BABIP over the last 5 starts was .435. At first I just chalked it up to regression to the mean, but it's passed into bad luck IMO. His BABIP on the season is now .322, and that was before the Marlins went 9-21 today on balls in play. His LD% is still only 18%, so I don't see any reason he should have a higher than average BABIP. I expect Keuchel will have some good starts in his future.
Groundballs also have a higher BABIP than Flyballs, plus we don't have guys with great range on the infield.
A short-term upgrade at SS this offseason would make the pitchers happy. Marwin's a solid backup IF, but he just doesn't have the range to man SS regularly. Villar's still an option, but you can't exactly pencil him in going into next season. I also haven't regularly watched enough to know what effects the shift is having in this area. Correa's injury totally threw a monkeywrench into my foolproof plan to have him as the OD SS next year.
I was at the game last Sunday against the White Sox and he was torture to watch pitch. There is nothing worse to watch when you're sitting in 90-degree heat in direct sunlight than a guy that goes to 3-2 on every. single. batter. What made it worse is that the White Sox countered with the same type of pitcher in John Danks.
singleton looks like complete dog **** esp in that 8th inning ab. not even CLOSE on any of his swings. he needs to get demoded
