We gotta come in with the mentality that this team was once ahead of us in the division and swept us? last time, and stomp them.
Certainly there was a healthy legion of fans here that were ready to give up on the season after that series... but I doubt any of them own up to their overreactions while this team is poised to cap off the most successful regular season record in Astros history, while playing in a division which was very competitive.
The Mariners swept the Astros? I had completely forgotten until reading this thread. On other things forgotten, how long a winning streak was it that Altuve got rest?
I'll own up to mine and I encourage everyone to go back and find my posts and mock me relentlessly if/when we wrap up the division. This team had me in a dark place then, and while there's still a lot of baseball left, I'm thrilled that the few weeks since then have gone better than I anticipated.
As long as "TBA" doesn't change to "Paxton", I like our chances for a sweep revenge. Will be happy with 2 of 3 though.
Feeling grateful to be a Houston sports fan. Painful loss for Texans. Jeff Bzdlk quits on Rockets.... And yet we still have the Astros!
The Athletics finish the season with 6 against the Angels, 3 against Mariners and 3 against the Twins. The Astros finish the season with 3 against Seattle, 3 against the Angels, 3 against the Jays and 4 against the Orioles. Both teams have very easy schedules, the Astros cannot let up because the A's may only lose a few more the rest of the month.
Astros would do them a favor in this series. Mariners can book their vacation early. No need to wait the inevitable. Mariners broomed us, now we will send them packing for 2019.
As dark as it was, it actually wasn't that bad (especially when considering the injuries)... and at the very least, it cemented Tyler White and Tony Kemp as huge role players on this team. There's also actually not that much baseball left. Just seems like nobody has been really high on this team throughout this season... and despite all of that, they're 3 games ahead of last year's pace, which was a regular season where fans had every reason to be braggadocios, confident, and as optimistic as possible.
