Good points. My definition of 'establishment left candidate' means: - centrist - safe win (in their eyes) - pro-corporate Hillary and Biden fit perfectly. If the DNC wants a minority candidate, they'd pick one or the other of millenial and gay, not both, and preferably not gay at all, because we just don't have any history at all of an openly gay person running for president here. (By this I mean: not a safe win.) I didn't say they'd be against it. I don't agree with your characterization of Pete as the obvious second choice behind Biden for the DNC. You make good points though, I could be wrong. I like him a lot as a candidate, though I find him weak on substantial policy takes.

So just to be clear, in your mind, anyone who isn't an older white man is just an identity politics pick? Maybe you have all these candidates because women, minorities, and young people make up large parts of the Democratic Party, and thus would logically be the candidates to come from that pool of people.
i could not agree with you more. It was a poor choice of words and subject matter and deserves some critic, but it is being widely overblown IMO. With that said it was definitely a unforced error and he can't take many more of these.
My point is to let people know that Biden is ready to "take strategic action to counter the Iran threat."

No I don't agree with that and it isn't what I'm saying, Andrew Yang and Tulsi are not establishments picks and they are obviously not old white men. I never said all minority candidates are automatically establishment picks. I'm just saying it's clear that the DNC likes to play identity politics and that many of their picks going forward will be diverse in terms of age, gender, sexuality, religion, ethnicity etc. This was in response to someone saying they would be surprised if an establishment left pick was a gay millennial, I disagree with that. I think many of the establishment picks going forward will be minorities because again, the establishment left actually favors identity politics as a political tool.
