I don’t know why the OP like so many conservatives is so hell-bent on Warren and Ocasio-Vortex or whatever her name is. Anyway, Elizabeth Warren shot herself in the foot with the I-am-2 percent Native American-at-best business. Not that it makes a good ******* if she is or not. The rungs on the ladder of the Presidential race are already greased. She should have just left the Ancestry kit in the kitchen cupboard, untouched.
I think that's the problem. If everyone just voted for who they wanted and not who they feel would be electable, we might see some surprises.
Young progressives are not the core voters though and will fall in line. The dems need to appeal to the undecided class of voters, instead of the far left which will never vote Republican. That is why you have a Bernie type get them excited and then turn them over to whoever the Democratic Corporation have selected ahead of time. It won't matter as well, because they will shrug and say at least he isn't Trump. Mark my words, the Dems will not end up selecting Fauxcahontas. They are likely using her to gauge people's response to an older white female corporatcrat, all so they can launch Hilary 2020.
I don't think young progressives will fall in line as passionate as they are. They certainly aren't the core but they are growing rapidly and could take over the party eventually. As for the rest of your post, I can't tell if it's a joke or not. Hillary would have won if she took enough of Bernie's voters with her, she didn't. The very reason progressives to even moderates are so passionate for Bernie in the first place is due to the disdain of corporate politicians. No way Hillary runs again, and if she does the progressives will be roasting her harder then any conservative is even capable of. Bernie was damn close last year, and maybe it's just my surroundings ... but it seems like the failure of Hillary and result of Trump has really added fuel to that fire and grown the movement quite a bit. I do think Bernie, or Warren, or some other true progressive could have a real shot for 2020.
The DNC made a mistake in how they handled Bernie. If it didn't get out that they cheated him, then they could have taken his voters easily. I am not sure why you think I joke. Maybe you don't recall past elections.
No, I don't follow the D&D that closely. The DNC cheating Bernie definitely pissed progressives off more, but they already hated Hillary for her politics. I disagree, anything short of her making Bernie VP instantly killed off a large group of progressives. The anti-corruption moderates and center Republicans that were interested in Bernie over Trump would have been gone regardless of what Hilary did.
You know what's sad/funny, instead of listing what he's accomplished in his years in office this is his response. Again, I think if the democrats put someone up who is strong but calm, and simply ask questions like "what has this guy really done in office?" or "are you better than you were 4 years ago?" most people will see Trump for who he is, an emperor with no clothes. I like Warren, I respect her, but I don't think she is truly capable of doing that... but someone like Beto? That's a whole different ball game.
I think if she just concentrates on her works and projects as a senator, she would could beat Trump. Like I said before, out of all the candidates, she's has done the most actual legislative work on proggresive non identity politics causes such as fighting for banking regulation and against political corruption. Out of all the candidates, she understands the nuances of policy the most. I just would like that type of president. I want a great president, not a great campaigner.
And? Ya, eventually if you just spam this one thing about her, I would hope most voters would pick up in the fact that they can't find anything else on her, no false charities, no pay to play etc. She can just concentrate on policy nuance while Trump blabbers about Pocahontas.
If all voters were informed, intelligent and enthusiastic about voting I would agree with you. Maybe I'm jaded, but I feel like most voters have 1 of those three qualities, with some having none. Again, I'm not commenting on that I don't think she's an excellent candidate or that if I would like to have her as my president, more the ignorance, apathy and bigotry of the common voter.
Elizabeth Warren and the "trap" for black voters https://www.blackagendareport.com/freedom-rider-elizabeth-warren-and-trap-black-voters excerpt: “Democrats have doubled down on all of their strategies which led to a Trump administration.” Their choice is quite deliberate. Whether Democrats are openly obstructionist corporatists like Pelosi, or liberal sounding like Warren, they will not consider any meaningful systemic reforms. The Warrens of the world may in fact be equally dangerous. Instead of Medicare For All she proposes The Consumer Health Insurance Protection Act. This mouthful of a name is a plan to provide subsidies to pay for a system that is unnecessarily costly. Like Obamacare, it enshrines private sector control, which is the cause of all our health care problems. Likewise, her Accountable Capitalism Act is a sleight of hand. Capitalism is inherently unaccountable to the people. It sounds good to include workers on corporate boards but Warren’s proposal would apply only to those valued at $1 billion or more. That loophole leaves out millions of people. Managing capitalism never works very well in any case. Warren and her ilkought to be known for accepting the status quo and not for turning back the clock to regain what right wing Democrats like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama gave us: endless austerity and war. “Like Obamacare, Warren’s bill enshrines private sector control, which is the cause of all our health care problems.” Black people must take the lead before it is too late. Our reluctance to deviate even slightly from Democratic Party dogma has done us no favor. While the fear of Republican control silenced us, Democrats lost over 900 legislative seats across the country. Silence is not golden in the political arena. The early primaries located in southern states will play a huge role in determining the eventual nominee. In the South, Democrat means black and those voters have every right to ask hard questions and make clear demands.Going along gave us nothing but NAFTA, the loss of the right to public assistance, bank bailouts, a right wing health care scheme and finally a Republican in the White House who embodied all of our worst fears. Our plight will worsen if the people who failed so miserably are given undeserved trust yet again. The moment is ripe to oppose them, to assert our own political will, and to speak for true self-determination. That effort may lead to a split in the Democratic Party but that outcome should not be feared either. Up until now our political power has been wasted on fear, fear of the Republicans who have ended up in office anyway. On election night in 2016 this columnist wrote, ”The destruction of the Democratic Party and creation of a truly progressive political movement is the only hope for black America.”That movement is stymied whenever a particular Democrat is examined for his or her worthiness. By now we know that is a loser’s game. The 2016 campaign must be the last one in which black voters played the role of loyal chumps.
did she really drink a beer for her announcement? we don't have normal tv, I thought this was a joke at first
You care more about this than policy. You are a small window into how we got duped into allowing legal bribing of politicians.
