Good to see Sanders running again. Unlike many of the others who sometimes claim to be for Medicare for All, $15/hr, tuition free 4 year college etc. BERNIE SANDERS MEANS IT. This might as well be his campaign slogan. For many years we have Dems who use liberal/leftist rhetoric, who voice support for watered down versions of these policies, to appeal to the base, but exert virtually no effort or political capital to promote them when they win. We can see this already with the annointed one, Kamala Harris.
Ok, serious question: what's Bernie's baggage? Elizabeth Warren is having trouble getting off the ground because her Native American faux pas is lethal in a party that mostly cares about identity politics.
I don't like Sanders or Warren. But Sanders seems even further out there than Warren. btw, "identity politics"...
When I take those "who you should vote for" quizzes, I get like an 80% match on Sanders and about 78% on Warren. The difference really is negligible. If Bernie had not run a very successful campaign already in 2016 he would have absolutely no chance. But he has the name recognition now. Bernie may be able to pull this off by following the Trump playbook. He's the odd man out in a gigantic field. If he can survive long enough, the other cookie cutter Dems will slit each other's throats. He can win this by simply being "not like them". If a candidate seizes momentum and breaks away, Bernie will be effed though. He has to hope that the field stays level and no crabs are able to get out of the bucket, so to speak. As for a VP, lots of people think Sanders and Warren go together like PB&J, but the problem is Warren is far more valuable as a Senator than she would be as VP. Plus I'm not sure Liz can pull in enough support from crappy neo liberals and SJWs. I think Kamala Harris would be perfect for that. For now, Sanders has my vote.
