Can somebody tell me the basic rules that apply in most basketball leagues around the world on amateur and professional level that are not enforced in the NBA?

Obviously, travelling is one but another one I noticed lately is 3 seconds in the paint which means you cannot pass it out any more and have to shoot it. We know 3 seconds in the paint is not called very often, but it's ridiculous not to call 3 seconds when guys already have an advantage by being in the paint too long and then being able to pass out. Might as well just scrap the rule from the book.

Any others that come to mind?

Fair unbiased officiating without the notion of so called "superstar calls"

Before AI came along the ball handler's hand could not be on under the ball as not to "cradle" it. Now it's rarely called.

I'm only 19 so I didn't understand what he meant by "showing our age." I just know the rules and know that almost everyone does it. Then refs call it every so often and that is dumb because then you can ask why did they choose to call it then and not the other 30 times previously.

I've noticed a lot of Harden's turnovers come when he's being grabbed, hacked or man-handled on his way to the rim. If the league doesn't want harden going to the line 10-12 times a night, then they should make teams defend him. Lin has to get mauled before anything gets called for him.

In Australia the national league plays a lot of zone. The international 3 point line is shorter than the NBA line.

Most international leagues donĀ“t have defensive three seconds.

Foot over the line on inbounds after a made basket. I know its a mere formality to continue playing and its weak to call, but it seems players get away with not being completely over the line a couple times a game

Not using pivot foot. Sometimes players receive the ball with their back turned before facing up, they take many steps while turning before they dribble. They do NOT turn on the PIVOT foot, they simply turn taking both feet off the ground

The infamous Corey Maggette travels 6 times vid is the most obvious example

Maybe moving screens is another one that doesnt get enforced.

But still I'd rather them NOT get called, or the games would have waaaaaaaaay more whistles and drag on FOREVER.

Read Tim Donaugh's book " The Book The NBA Doesn't Want You To Read ", then maybe you will see why these rules are not enforced and when they are, why they are

Wouldn't it force players to stop doing it rather than keep getting called for it?

Pushing off with the off hand while dunking on someone.

    Over the back tip dunk.

Big guys bulldozing with their back side to the basket, a.k.a. backing down the defender.
