Was just thinking about this. So we want it to be a Rain out on Wednesday (Game 4) right? If so, and GM 4 is on Thursday and GM 5 on Friday then Greinke can start GM 4 and Verlander could start GM 5. The issue with that is that Tanaka would start GM 4 against Greinke though instead of having a bullpen game on Wednesday.
You’ve found the downside to your own wish I’d rather it NOT rain out for game 4 I’ll take urquidy vs the yanks pen , hopefully even if we lose it will be 2-2 that point and their pen will have been overworked or overexposed to our hitters
Yea, I'm thinking I like this scenario better myself. I want that Yankee pen used up as much as possible.
Rain doesn't affect games often enough for the league to mandate roofs. Fact is, being outdoors for baseball (and football for that matter) adds to the experience, and retractable roofs even while open typically detracts from the "openness". Now, for a place like Houston (where it rains plenty and has 40+ games/season with 95+ heat index, a roof is pretty much mandatory.
Also , IMO there’s no benefit to verlander game 5 and Cole game 6 vs verlander 6 and Cole 7 Maaaaybe verlander could come out of the pen in game 7 , but if it gets to game 7 then that means they already beat one of them once look , if we lose both of these next games ... then yeah I want verlander over greinke game 5 , but things are looking bleak anyways at that point and maybe you just have to hope your offense carries you at that point
per Buster Olney, Stanton will take BP tomorrow afternoon and if there's no real improvement they will replace him on the roster
Looking more like Game 4 Greinke Game 5. Verlander Game 6 bullpen Game 7 Cole rain looks like it’s 100% for Wednesday
At the risk of jinxing us I feel tomorrow is going to be crucial. If we can't with Cole on the mound in the Bronx we might not play another 2019 game in Minute Maid.
If we win tomorrow I would save Verlander for a game 6 rather than a bullpen game. We would then have him at home either for us to survive to get to game 7 or to close out the series.
Tomorrow isn’t a must win game. It’s obviously a big one but the Astros are highly capable of winning any game against anybody.
I’m with you but I think that Hinch manages to win the moment. He treats each game like it’s a must win game 7. I would be surprised if he pushes Verlander back to game 6 if there is a rain out Wednesday.
