I know he's not 2010 or even 2017 Votto, but he's still a BIG upgrade over Big Tubby, and he really deserves a ring.
Ohio pro sports championships since 1976: 1990 Reds 2016 Cavaliers Unbelievable. Bengals, Browns (Kosar), and Indians have had some GREAT teams, and of course the Cavaliers should have won more with LeBron than just the one.
I love Bregs wherever he plays, but calling him "elite" at 3B is a push. Can make some spectacular plays, but has a (relatively) high error % on routine plays. He's no Chapman or Arenado. Bregman was an outstanding SS in college and the minors. I know that's not MLB, but still, it's his natural home.
I'm not willing to give White **** for that GIDP. It was the 6th hardest hit in the game so far at over 92 mph, and it was the fourth most likely batted ball to end up as a hit, all according to Statcast. I mean, he hit the ball dead up the middle hard, and that's a straight up hit if they're not shading right into it, which was luck for them. The Astros are proving that a walk is not always one of the best things short of a hit at the plate. As soon as Chirinos walked, I just thought "we're not scoring." And it wasn't because White was coming up. I mean, nothing's a great option, but you've got to come away with a run with men on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out. You've just got to make that happen. The inning-ending double play is just too likely, especially with a pitcher with so many balls tailing down in the zone. There aren't great options, of course. You can't will Chirinos to hit a sac fly. There's the option of a safety squeeze. Hard to pull off, especially on a guy with a lot of movement and good speed changing, but it's not impossible. The Astros are pushing this double play problem into the realm of "maybe we try to concoct something before it presents itself." White almost got us two runs, and not even Straw was going to beat that DP out. This is an Astros-wide problem, and I don't know what the hell you do about it.
He's always been a shortstop. He had to ARod it over to 3rd because we already have a shortstop. When said shortstop is eventually no longer on the team, Alex Bregman will be your starting shortstop.
