I’ve been very annoyed by how much Rangers gear I’ve seen in Texas on this trip and how little Stros gear
Espada hasn’t had a lot of “easy” games this year…. With a **** ton of bad luck and knee-jerk BBS reactions… Ironic that the one game that nobody would ever blame him for poor decision making if it was a loss ends up being a managing roller-coaster that ends up as a win. Survived a rookie who wasn’t quite ready for this level, got max production out of the pen, lineup showed its true colors, and really aren’t going to be in that bad a shape (staff usage wise) going into the next series.
That was gonna happen regardless. Felt terrible watching it happen, couldn't even be mad. At least he got an out in a major league game, that still puts him in an elite tier of baseball players. Maybe he can out put it together and make another MLB appearance at some point.
Still a head scratcher on why we couldn't have someone else start instead of this kid. It was just a setup for failure...
Right - well Brown is notorious for lying with a straight face. I think he will be a good GM, but he can be standing in the middle of a hurricane and tell you it isn’t raining while smiling. My guess is Brown has figured out Espada is nervous and sometimes a dumbass, so Brown painted on a smile and said “everything is fine”… then he and Charles Cook sent their paralegal to buy a couple of cases of beer and bring up a couple of bats … then got smashed and bashed his office with the baseball bats while calling their pitching coaches *******.
I actually think the Astros potentially could be okay. If Verlander and Javier pitch well, they can withstand it…. But I will say this proves the adage that you never have too much pitching. Arrighetti is on the farm if they think he is ready- if not there are still some inning eaters out there like Greinke.
No? Espada is worried about preparing the team he has. The Astros wanted a starting pitcher on proper rest - and they went with who is available.
