All series talk goes in here. Non series talk goes somewhere else. No PBP that can be found from other sources if you need it. All games are broadcast on Root Sports unless otherwise noted. 8-22 Doug Fister vs. Jameson Taillon 6:05 8-23 Joe Musgrove vs. Ivan Nova 6:05 8-24 Collin McHugh vs. Gerrit Cole 11:35
worried about Taillon...he has been relatively on lately. Thinking Fister needs another 3-or-less job. WWL, keep winning series!
I fancy Musgrove to bounce back, whilst I think McHugh will probably get hammered yet again. Need to win tonight WWL

This is the season here. We sweep here and I am confident that we are going to bounce back in a big way!
It's not necessarily confidence..just necessity. With Rasmus and Valbuena on the DL, Gurriel with the tight hammy, and Gattis (hot of late) getting a day off...Reed is the next best 5 hitter. But yeah, he has been swinging better lately
He's slashing .313/.405/.500/.905 in his last 10 games; 8 starts. First call-up v second call-up: .156/.250/.289/.539; 53 PA vs. .234/.345/.362/.707; 55 PA The OB% is the most encouraging sign; he's demonstrating better patience and pitch recognition: 8 walks so far. And overall - since bottoming out on July 3 (.091/.192/.227/.420), he's gotten markedly better: .229/.333/.357/.690. He's not shown a ton of power (just 3 2Bs and a HR since the recall) - but I have to think that'll come as his discipline and recognition continue to mature. His and Bregman's emergence the past two weeks have been the salve to any disappointment about the team overall. If they've found two more (young) legitimate bats to add to this line-up...
Regarding reed, his swing seems to naturally generate power to left centerfield. wonder if that's a product of bat speed/mlb pitching speed. I also heard more than once a comparison with Adam Dunn....looked up his stats today and was floored. I remember he had pop. I didn't know he hit 40 a year like 5-6 years...id take it lol
Reed needs to be playing everyday from here on out. The continued improvement from him is the most important part of this last month and change in my opinion.
