You keep harping on something that's just not true. Good pitchers tend to pitch well. That's why they're good. This isn't rocket science. But the Astros aren't any more suseptible to that than any other team.
It's easier for these Debbie Downers that weren't really around before the last few weeks to b**** about the last couple of weeks as if this was a team on pace to lose 100 games...instead of winning 100 games. How easily they forget how dominating this offense has been for large portions of the season.
Every team in the history of for-freaking-ever has lost to more #1's and #2's. THAT'S WHY THEY'RE F***ING #1'S AND #2'S
Peacock just wanted to look all 9 of them in the eye in one inning. Whiffing the last two and we out of it.
One more inning Peacock and then pen will take over. Always get worried third time through the order with him (and sometimes 2nd time through).
I do not feel comfortable with only a four-run lead and our own bullpen. C'mon, bats; you can start getting hits before two outs, ya know.
Pen has restored order with a under 1.50 ERA in August thus far. It's the starting pitching that has been just plain bad.
Wtf Hinch? Get Devo out and to the minors already! Dude needs to get his head straight. He got out if it but he needs some rehabilitation
I know how NL baseball is played, but when my pitcher just struck out the side 1-2-3, I'm kinda leaning towards letting him hit. He probably strikes out, but that leaves you with two outs and a hot pitcher still on the mound. Beltran's a double play threat (and did exactly that), and Devenski is still questionable.
It's a 4 run lead. There are other arms in the pen. Everyone is a double play threat..including Martes. Beltran is a "hit threat" also, which could potentially extend the lead beyond 4 runs, making it even easier to run other arms out there.
You know what else, I've noticed that the Astros have really struggled when the other team scores more runs than them. I bet they've never won those games, those silly bastards. That better change come playoff time.
btw..I trust Luke. Scored on in just 4 of his last 28 appearances before today (back to late May). Granted, he's been mostly low leverage. But I think he's back and am fully comfortable if he has to come into high leverage situations because of Devo issues or Harris/Giles unavailability. Wrote this halfway through the inning..and am posting because I continually see people continue to say they don't trust the pen or him in particular. I feel like that's the past. Gotta be in the present with him...he's solid.
