Not followed everything in this thread, but Marisnick is viewed as a Springer replacement by some? Marisnick, after a horrible year, has shown that he looks like a good 4th OF again and that he probably is better than Aoki. I had hoped Marisnick could make just a little more contact such that he would be viable as a starting OF. Aoki looks like a 4th OF to me.
I responded to a post where the OP could see Jake as a potential replacement lead off hitter for Springer.
Baffles me why people want to see Springer move down in the order and get less AB's. Their lefty lineup features Springer-Altuve-Correa back-to-back.... it really doesn't matter all that much the order of them, just as long as they all get the most AB's/game.
Was there on Tuesday night...maybe 15,000 rattling around in there. God, that place is a pit. From the drunk frat boys to the stagnant air to the shitty concessions. How the hell does a stand serving nothing but hot dogs and specialty sausages run out of hot dogs and specialty sausages before the first frigging pitch?!
Correa ranks #225 in average HR distance among all major leaguers ( Grade C, just above average ) Of players with 8 HR or more, Correa ranks #102 in distance ( Grade D, bottom third of data set ) Correa ranks #49 for just enough HR's. ( Grade D, bottom third of entire league) Correa ranks #221 in Exit Velocity for entire league ( Grade C, just above average for entire league) Correa ranks #296 in Apex ( Grade D, bottom third of entire league ) The data reveals the truth, unfortunately. Love Correa, but don't be in a fog about his power. He has some no doubt homers, but generally speaking, his approach is contact over power.
Correa has 2 home runs under 350 feet this year and one more under 380. His home runs do not barely clear the fence. Here are his stats from this season http://www.hittrackeronline.com/detail.php?id=2016_82&type=hitter
Assume he is using the average true distance which shows Correa at 397.6 and down the list. Now if the argument is that his average distance is less than 400 feet that is one thing, but "barely clear the fence" is incorrect.
what are the average distances for shortstops who have hit more than 7 homeruns? I think that would be a fair way.
The fact is that regardless of where he is on the list, his home runs don't barely clear the fence. I guess one could argue that if you hit a 415 foot home run that just clears a 412 foot fence, that it barely cleared, but the ball did go 415 feet.
Between moving Marisnick to lead-off and b****ing about Correa's power, there's some real stupid **** being discussed in this thread right now.
