    I don't think Taylor has the stuff to be a back end hammer, but he looks like he has all the qualities you want for a great middle man.

    First I like to apologize to Blake Taylor. Earlier I said I had no confidence in any of the pitchers that would come in after Valdez. I forgot about him and he's been money so far. Nice find by Luhnow.

    Second, finally an extra inning win. Glad they were able to grind out a win.

    Tell pitchers to throw strikes.... or tell pitchers that they should have had a better spring training!

    Given the lack of lead time to the season, its been about what I would have expected... which means the quality should get better up/down the pitching staff and lineup as the season goes on... if the season even goes on.

    Dusty Baker said Cristian Javier will "probably" start for the Astros on Tuesday against the DBacks. Madison Bumgarner is his scheduled opponent.
