so gallo would back up ariza/anderson? I just can't see ariza coming off the bench. Obvious fit, but I wouldn't say a great, "can't pass up" fit.

edit: exact same statement applies for Chandler IMO.

 

I would love to make a play on JJ Redick. He's the perfect SG for our system. It would also allow Pat to move to the bench, giving us the backup PG we've been missing. Although a trade may be unlikely, he is a UFA this summer, and LAC can't keep him, CP3, and Blake, so it might be possible. And if you trade for him, you have the ability to go over the cap to re-sign him in the summer. They could wait for free agency, but they'd have to move some players around to give him a max or near-max.

 

Reddick and Noel should be Morey's priorities next offseason.

 

Another guy I like out there is Taj Gibson.

Nice defensive big on an expiring contract.

 

What what you trade for him? Can you get him without giving up the 1st round pick?

I am pretty locked into the "add as much as you can" before you must start operating over the cap mantra.

We are really limited by what we can trade for simply because we are missing filler salary. This is where that stupid Dmo thing REALLY hurt us, btw. Realistically if we want to improve the team we have to send dead salary (salary with no value) Brewer, Ennis, KJ along with assets that are currently not contributing (picks, maybe Harrell). Gibson is nice because you could theoretically make a move for him AND a guy like Wilson Chandler, since their salaries are reasonable. If you stretch it into two deals you could do:

Ennis, McDaniels, Harrell
for
Taj Gibson

Brewer, 1st, 2nd
for
Wilson Chandler

You could then use your MLE and bird rights to improve the team, maybe something like this for next year:

Beverley / Llull (MLE) / Jones
Harden / Gordon
Ariza / Chandler / Dekker
Anderson / Gibson / Wiltjer
Capella / Nene (BAE) / Onuaku

That bench is druel worthy, IMO

I can't envision Redick being moved unless it's as part of a much larger LAC move. Batum is very interesting, but how can we get him without moving Ariza in the deal? And if we're forced to move Ariza, the potential benefit is too minor to support the trade.

I really would love Tyson Chandler. I think he fills a glaring hole on the team.
