So sad man, Blazers could've won multiple championships with Oden, Roy & Aldridge. Oden should retire already, so many operations cannot be good.
Blazer could've won multiple with Durant, Roy, and Aldridge. That is a scary thought how good they could've been.
His surgent's probably like " Not this Mother*****er again..." when ever he enters his hospital. In all seriousness though it is sad for the Blazer organazation. Imagine how well they'd be doing if Oden was healthy since day one and developed nicely and if roy stayed a 100% They're roster would be scary right now : felton, roy, wallace, aldrige, oden - and with a great bech with jamal, wesly, camby and batum.
Roy won't develop into a franchise player and true star alongside Durant Drafting Oden was a right move, sometimes it just don't work But when he was 100%, he really deserved that number 1 selection overall
You have no idea. Roy would have developed just fine with KD and they would have been dynamic together. Roy would have been the point man with KD on the wing. Their skillsets mesh perfectly because KD plays off the ball so well. Drafting Oden was a giant mistake that set the franchise back. Certainly they were unlucky, but it was a mistake nevertheless. I've liked the Blazers ever since the Walton/Lucas days and said from the beginning KD was the better choice over Oden.
You can't say he has no idea when everyone is basing their predictions from their own opinion... Roy and KD would have both been great players regardless, but both probably wouldn't end up being top 10 franchise level players. If we were to revisit that 2008 draft again without any idea of what was to occur, I'm sure the Blazers would draft Oden again without hesitation. In fact, I'm sure every draft board had Oden at #1 with Durant at #2. It's unlucky for the Blazers but things are what they are. Great big men are hard to find in the league and when one as good as Oden looked coming out of the draft is available to you, you take him.
Why did the Trailblazers even pick up his option? 9M dollars sounds like a lot of money even if it's only for one year, you could pick up a couple of good role players for that dough.
lol They needed a defensive beast at C that could develop into a two-way player Oden (before that collision with AB) was a beast defensively, he was controlling the painted area just like Dwight Howard did, he was dominant on boards (and he was the best offensive rebounder in the game already) and he really started to show some promise at the offensive end You theory about off the ball player is garbage. They already have one, similar medium range shooter in LaMarcus. Try again tomorrow
Why do people continue to say Roy wouldn't have developed into a star if they drafted Durant and vice versa. Their games are nothing alike and actually compliment each other.
I agree, everybody says after the draft they would of picked Durant over Oden. But they wouldn't dare say that before the draft. It happened with Kwame Brown also. Most draft boards had him at #1, but now many fans laugh at how terrible the pick was when they would of done the same thing.
Rookie is Rookie, but are you really trying to compare Kwame that can't play when he's healthy with Oden that proved all the hype when he was healthy?
For those who can't remember Oden averaged 11.65 points + 8.75 boards + 2.4 blocks in less than 25 minutes in 20 games (before that 4 minutes stretch against Rox) without any touches and plays for him at the offensive end When McMillan decided to run offense through him for a three-four-five minute stretches, he ate his opponents alive at both ends and dominated defensively That a number 1 pick worthy, especially for that Blazers team
There was some info from Blazers insiders. They said that if Portland FO had an opportunity to re-draft they would still select Oden if there can be even a 5% chance of Greg staying healthy because from what they saw from him in that second season, when he was 100% at 21 years of age It was on Oregonian or some other media (I don't actually remember) That's enough to end this conversation
Oden>Durant when healthy. He could've brought them a championship. If he didn't get injured so much.. Sounds like another big man.
I don't think they'll ever draft a center with the no.1 overall pick ever again. Oden vs D. Howard would've been great for the NBA... He wouldve been the only center that could matchup with D.Howard.... Unfortunate for the young man...My heart goes out to him.
