Okay then... lets stop changing the subject to Demonize AOC, and focus on the issue then. Are you saying that what is going on at the border (call them whatever you want... internment camps, summer retreats, concentration camps, whatever) are a great thing, and what the Trump regime is doing in putting children in cages, not giving them soap, tooth brushes, or clean clothes... separating 4 month old children from their parents... etc. etc. Are you saying that is a good thing, and highly moral? Stop trying to change the subject. AOC called them concentration camps... guess what... John Roberts called Japanese Internment Camps concentration camps himself. Its a term. Argue what you want about the semantics but it doesn't change the fact that what the Trump regime is doing isn't sick, and twisted. There is a special place in hell for people like Stephen Miller and Donald Trump who are doing this on purpose, and getting a kick out of it.
I think we've found Trump's 2020 campaign slogan! Trump 2020: Compared to Hitler, we look pretty good! He should totally play up the "Not nearly as bad as Auschwitz" angle. Just really hammer on that until it's the first thing voters think when they hear his name.
https://www.rt.com/usa/462252-yad-vashem-aoc-holocaust-response/ Israeli Holocaust museum schools AOC on concentration camps after comparison to migrant facilities The Israeli Holocaust memorial center Yad Vashem lit up US Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez online for comparing US migrant detention centers to fascistic concentration camps, even offering to help educate her. “Concentration camps assured a slave labor supply to help in the Nazi war effort, even as the brutality of life inside the camps helped assure the ultimate goal of ‘extermination through labor,’” the memorial center wrote Monday, addressing the congresswoman on Twitter. The memorial center capped off its tweet with a suggestion for the young rep, better known as AOC: “Learn about concentration camps,” and linked her to a page on its own website. https://www.jpost.com/American-Politics/Yad-Vashem-to-AOC-Learn-about-concentration-camps-593059 Yad Vashem to AOC: Learn about concentration camps .@AOC Concentration camps assured a slave labor supply to help in the Nazi war effort, even as the brutality of life inside the camps helped assure the ultimate goal of "extermination through labor." I have no idea whom you are responding to, but precisely NO ONE has said anything like this at any time stating that Donald Trump is "getting a kick out of it" is just unbelievably out there. Whether you like him or detest him, he is the President. He is dealing with a problem that Clinton and Obama previously dealt with, and in ways similar to how they dealt with it. If he is getting a kick out of it, so did Clinton and Obama. That makes NO sense.
De Blasio not a fan https://nypost.com/2019/06/19/de-blasio-blasts-aoc-over-concentration-camp-comments/
It's amazing how memes fry people's brains. It's why I told you earlier I suggest switching to dry lengthy articles that aren't sensationalized. Do you know where the cow fart memes comes from?
This is just flat out false, and I've had this same discussion with multiple posters and the narrative still doesn't change. The only time Obama detained children was when they were UNACCOMPANIED and the detention was limited to 25 days before they found a family living in the states or found a foster home. When children were accompanied by parents, Obama and Bush Jr would treat the violation as a CIVIL OFFENSE, hand them a court date and release them. In fact, Obama started a pilot program that cost 36 dollars a day to the federal government that assigned case workers to these families to keep tabs on them until their court date. The program had a 99% success rate of migrants attending their court date https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/i...lum-seeking-migrant-families-together-n885896 What Trump does is have a zero tolerance policy regardless of context(first time offenders, families with children etc) and treats all crossings as criminal and detains all migrants and separates the parents from their children. What makes matters worse is the Trump adminstration is purposefully clogging the system to make the crisis appear worse by not hiring the proper amount of judges to expedite asylum hearings thus most of these families are held indefinitely. Look, i wouldn't be surprised if a week from now you or another poster regurgitates the exact same premise that previous presidents did the same thing. Hence why we throw accusations that you don't post from a sincere standpoint. Donald Trump is getting a kick out of this. Because it panders to his base. His base loves making the lives of illegal immigrants torturous. It feeds into their hatred which motivated them to go out and vote.
NOT far-right reporting: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/10/us/immigration-border-mexico.html https://www.washingtonpost.com/immi...a575670e91c_story.html?utm_term=.0e0a41f8f4fb
The migrant caravan issues from South American actually started in 2014 due to instability turmoil in certain nations in the region. Obama actually.hired the proper amount of judges to hear the requests as we are legally bound to do. The Trump adminstration is purposefully clogging the flow by ceasing any hiring of judges to make the problem appear worse to the public.
https://thehill.com/hilltv/rising/399910-former-ice-chief-hire-more-immigration-judges Quote from Trump: "Ultimately, we have to have a real border - not judges," Trump said. Again, this is pure political campaigns speech that isn't grounded in pragmatism. How is border security going to prevent migrants voluntarily giving themselves up for asylum requests? Like the former ICE official said, "you aren't going to win campaigns telling people you're going to hire more judges". So we have a presidential adminstration who wants to exacerbate a crisis for campaign rhetoric. Pretty ****ing shameful.
The Nazi comparisons are so cringy. There are literally still people alive who suffered under Nazi persecution and millions more who never made it. To trivialize their suffering by comparing it to what migrants on the southern border are subjected to is disgusting and shows a real lack of understanding and appreciation for those crimes or a willful desire for outrageous sensationalism.
They don't care about knowledge, they care about scoring points with memes that the science doesn't back. Methane gas from cows is a real contributor to warming, and things can be done to reduce methane emissions (such as adding garlic to a cow's diet) but they would rather try to find ways to mock the effort with a meme than gain an education. This is the typical way the far right and people like @dachuda86 operate. They take pride in their ignorance and see knowledge as left-wing nonsense. They are the kind of people who made Chernobyl possible - so arrogant that a former shoe repair worker thinks they know better than nuclear physicists.
Yup that line was striking in the series and reflects American society today when scientists and academia is laughed at and looked down upon. Apparently the best subject matter experts are small business owners. They are the Holy Grails of subject matter experts the gop keeps telling me.
The early stages of the Nazi movement wasn't gas chambers it was an anti-immigrant movement similar to what you are seeing now. Migrants was a big target of the Nazis and they were gassed in the beginning...it was very similar. The Nazis referred to the people they would eventually slaughter as an "infestation" - the same word Donald Trump has used to describe migrants. It's a valid comparison and should serve to you and others as a warning sign of what this man is capable of.
Exactly, Trump and his cronies in power represent the same nepotism and ignorance that you saw in the USSR and we all know what happened to the Soviet Union because of it. Putin is laughing.
