No longer having to answer to the voters, he can let his leftist freak flag fry and unleash his inner Caesar.

The normal checks and balances to prevent that sort of thing (Constitution/law) don't constrain him.

    Things I expect to see:

    1) Obama will outlaw hydraulic fracturing without congressional authorization, destroying the economies of North Dakota and elsewhere. He will also use the EPA to make coal plants economically nonviable, effectively banning them.

    2) Obama will use his national monument designation authority to confiscate tens of thousands of square miles of land for the federal government, making them off limits for economic development. He can do this with the stroke of a pen (madness to give one person that kind of power)

    3) Pardons for lefty icons like cop-killer Mumia Jamaal

Other things on the lefty wishlist we can't even think of that are not politically viable but that he now has the power to enact on his own decree.

No matter what you think about the Black Mamba, you have to respect his work ethic.

If he cared about public support or congressional support, it would require work.

The way Obama operates, not so much, just fire off some memos and directives.

    "Make it so"

I picture you in a bunker in the middle of Idaho surrounded by guns and copies of the Turner Diaries anxiously waiting for the hoards to come and get you while you eat fruit cocktail out of a tin can.

The regulatory assault on coal plants is already happening, though the latest rules out of the EPA were more flexible than I was expecting and seems to leave some space for states to preserve some coal generation. I don't see this as a bad thing at all though; coal generation is an obsolete technology and we shouldn't have to breathe in that crap when there are better options available.

Most of the death of coal generation is from the low price of gas resulting from fracking anyway. If he were to outlaw fracking, it'd breathe new life into coal generation. So, I don't think he can have both. If he truly wants to kill coal, he'll have to wait until its dead before banning fracking -- and he doesn't have time enough for that. Also consider that our low gas prices enable us to create a global LNG supply chain we can use to undermine Russia's power, which is something else he seems intent to do.

Doing work? lol Obama is incredibly lazy. He simply won't roll up his sleeves and work across the aisle. He's not willing to do it. Likely because he's not capable, which many of us knew all along.

So which is it? Is he lazy or incapable? Your logic seems flawed:p

I live near one of those "national monument" areas-- the St. Gabriel Mountains. As far as I can tell, it is a not a good idea to make economic developments there.

They are nice places to go hiking and camping, etc. But they are also fairly steep and prone to wildfires and later mudslides if it rains. It is extremely difficult to fight fires in that terrain and protect what homes there are in the foothills. Leaving aside environmental conservation reasons, it just kind of stupid to try and build subdivisions in the area.
