that is exactly how i reacted when it happened. i had a mouth full of Spaten Optimator double bock beer.. that is now all over my walls and floors.. totally worth it though. way to earn that paycheck, jeff!!
"Big Game" Backe comes through again, the whole freagin' team was clutch. Not much more to say but let's end it in six.
You think about the things that go your way when you're winning. The Cardinals don't put Chavez on intentionally in Game 4 to force a decision for Oswalt on deck ... and it backfired (Chavez ties the game). Tonight, a 2-2 count to Berkman and they decide to walk him intentionally. This was a massive backfire. But the biggest was Backe being unhittable, but losing the no-hitter to Tony Freakin' Womack. This may have been HUGE, because do you pull Backe for Lidge when he's throwing a no-no through EIGHT? It would have been the most second-guessed move by Garner ever, but the hit made it so we didn't have to ask that question. And Lidge mowed down Womack, Walker and Pujols, which set up the heroics. Even when the Astros can't hit, they find a way to win. Backe, Lidge, Beltran and of course Kent ... some big heroes tonight. Man that was awesome.
Absolutely unbelievable!!! Best baseball game I have ever attended. Being in the midst of that absolute chaos that ensued in the park is something I will never forget for the rest of my life. What a night!!
Ha I'm glad someone else understood where I was coming from. I've stuck with the Astros all-year long. There was a point where I was pissed off at them and complaining about their play, and I even quoted Major League II and said, "They'll blow it in the playoffs, they will!" but I always believed they had a chance. When Kent hit that home run, I was just ecstatic and screaming at the top of my lungs. No words could express how I felt so I just spazzed.
Clutch...clutch...clutch. The Clutchtros Rules!!!! With Boston and NY dominating the baseball headlines, Houston is putting together something special without too much fanfare.
I hope the Stros go out and destroy the Cards on Wed....ughhh shut your mouth Poojuls.. Taken from STLtoday.com "I thought he got lucky," Pujols said. "He got away with some pitches and they made some great plays. We hit a lot of balls hard right at people. They made a great play on Reggie. They made a great play on Edgar (Renteria). Woody hit the ball hard. Jimmy (Edmonds) hit the ball hard. It just went their way tonight. Yea well the Stros hit the ball hard right at your guys too and I didnt see you hit it hard once against Brandon..grr tip your hat you punk.....CY BACKE ATTACKE ON YOU!
someone should ask pujols how lucky lidge looked in the ninth making his swing look like a ten-year old girls.
Or the Hampton for Dotel trade. That trade did nothing for the Astros after Hampton Tmac-ed the Stros.
