Why is the default NBA punch seemingly always the long looping overhand? That punch usually starts about 8 feet behind the target, loops up over the top like a giant rainbow, and then, by the time it gets to the targets time zone, is blocked or avoided, shockingly enough.

Jermaine O'Neal's punch on Haddad was the only halfway good one, but he ruined it by running and slipping.

I guess it's a good thing because it keeps guys from getting hurt, but sheesh Nene, get a clue before you start swinging.
