do the rockets take a point guard now that they have no goo back up and looking into the second round you see any good point guard available at 46 in this draft other than devonte graham kelly okobo maybe jalen brunson malik newman or Hamidou Diallo also would you take KostasAntetokounmpo
They're going to do what they always do and what they should always do; take the player they believe to be the best available player regardless of position.
Wrong. They definitely need another PG. When Chris Paul went down the Rockets went with him. You can' keep counting on Harden to shoot us through games without a viable PG.
They need frontcourt help much more. Backcourt is far and away the strongest area of the team. If they end up exchanging EG and Ryno for a stellar frontcourt player, then a PG might make sense.
SI's mock draft has Landry Shamet as the 46th pick for Houston. Players like Vanderbilt, Metu and Svi are all ranked lower than him. Shamet is an okay player with a decent jumper, nothing else. The other 3 players are better than him in my opinion. Billy Preston is undrafted according to Si.
We're probably gonna draft a random guy from overseas that will take 4 years before he is able to come play for us. Then we will trade his rights to some other team before he can even put on our jersey.
Everyone's talking about Luka Doncic as the safest pick in this year's draft, out of all top10 picks. I would disagree. Mikal Bridges is the safest one. There's no way he would be a bust in this league. Very solid rotational player, huge peace to a championship team. Not a star though. I can see Celtics (or any other smart contender) gunning for this guy.
Well, Luka is definitely up there with his basketball IQ and skillset. Could already help most playoff teams. If you consider not becoming an All-Star BUSTING, then yeah Doncic could be a bust. But there's no way he doesn't become at least a very good rotational player, unless injuries.
Rockets are so irrelevant when it comes to the NBA draft. Even when they had a decent pick, Daryl Morey's eye for talent is questionable. Capela was his last good pick.
Draft pick isn't just a 'Morey decision'. There's a lot more people involved in the process (scouts, analytics department etc.) and they provide feedback. Based on that information Morey and maybe a couple of other people make the decision.
Then as a unit they haven’t been successful in the 1rst round and Morey being the GM gets the blame which is warranted.
