    I remember seeing that stuff on Japanese Iron Chef. It looks like way too much work to cook or eat.

    Because it's yummy. Seriously.

    Natto, on the other hand, is hard to handle. In Tokyo a while back, I had a Japanese friend dare me to eat some. It tasted horrific but I couldn't let him know that, so I kept a straight face and smiled. I'll never voluntarily eat it again.

    Has anyone here (who is not Chinese) had thousand year-old eggs and enjoyed them?

    I'm adventurous with food but, YIKES! man, I had to stop at about 1/2 an egg. I even tried mixing it in with my kanji but that didn't help much. They taste a million years old. Kind of hard to describe the taste, but unnatural and poisonous come to mind.

    when i was little, i had a balut thing. i actually enjoyed it until i grew up and realized what the **** i was eating.

    i had natto before. this girl i was dating kind of dared me to eat it. it wasn't really disgusting. doesn't taste very good either. meh.

    as for the thousand year old egg. i have that a few times a year. put some soy sauce and hot sauce in it. it taste pretty good to me. not very healthy, not disgusting either. :D
