Decimal odds as for today. We can clearly see James is favourite in most of the bookies.

 

Let's not forget, money is up for grabs with MVP award. $170 million to assure Harden stays or lose MVP to save the money and use it on other players? Tough choice.

nope, there's technically a chance but with 5 places someone can vote and each place have a different weight to the point system, it'll be virtually impossible for a tie

 

I think you guys need to understand how betting books works.

Harden was the clear favorite at -135 and Westbrook was the beneficial bet at +135.

The absolute smart play is to take Westbrook +135 ESPECIALLY with hoe much love he gets in the media. It's best possible return as a bettor.

As a bookie that's scary. So you HAVE to change the odds to direct betting. Because if all the money is on Westbrook and he wins you lose a **** ton. So they change the odds accordingly.

Then it's Westbrook -135 Harden +105. Probably still getting heavy amounts of bets on Westbrook because they didn't really WANT to pay out more for harden(probably because they believe he is the Victor)

So now the bookie hypothetically has a million bets on Westbrook and 100k on harden and 50k in all others. That's overwhelming so you have to continue to slide the bet towards a more even bet distribution.

The classic "field" is entered. So now you drop Westbrook to -185 (discouraging future bets at such crap odds) and "field" is +135. Which isn't much better payout but makes the odds better to influence bets albeit not paying as much still. Under this the smart bet is the field.

So the bookies are trying to reel in more harden/field bets to equal out some of the Westbrook bets.

If I had money to gamble and still lived in Vegas I would take the harden/field +135 all day.

BTW professional gamblers don't bet on something like this. It's too random and unpredictable. This is for casual gamblers and fans.

I do dont think you guys understand how the MVP voting works. There are voters all around the country... not just at Espn and TNT.... give me a break.... most voters are from small markets... and most of them are rational when it comes to looking at the WHOLE BODY of work before giving their votes, that is why they are entrusted with that privilege.
