Let's say . . HEY MING IS NOT AS GOOD AS WILLIAMS
    Let's even say . . HEY HE's only 1/2 as good

Well the PG position is twice as good
    as
the Center position in the NBA

I looked through the Starting Centers [look in the NBA
    Dish Section] and the league
Ming will dominate them more easily than Williams will
dominate the: Kidds, Paytons, Stocktons, Bibbys, Francises, Davises
    of the the league.

    River,

Great take, not to mention we already have one of the best PGs in the NBA.

Ming will be at the best a top 2 center, and at the worst a top 10 center.

Sounds like a slam dunk to me.

Heck, he is already 50 times better then Kelvin Bricks Cato.

That's my best justification for taking Ming. In his rookie year, we'll at least have a even matchup at the center position on most nights. Give the guy a few years and we'll have the advantage at that position.

I'm still nervous as hell about picking ming, but I'm trying to stay positive.

Great post. Interesting take that many people probably have not considered. This is probably the most important take of all however. Imagine this scenario, when Shaq RETIRES. Can you say domination? Ming, may literally be what Shaq is today.

Interesting post, I agree that we should probably take Ming because whether he is The Next Shaq (i have my doubts) or not he will at least be a top 5 guy. The reason I replied though was because I heard D. Vitale say he thought Jay Williams would be the best PG in the NBA in 2-3 yrs. Now I am just saying this because of the nature of the post, I don't neccesarily agree, although I definitly think he will be a top 5 guy. My argument for drafting Ming is that we already have a top 10 pg, so it doesn't make sense to get another one, or trade the pick for a Sf, because Top centers don't come around everyday. Ming most likely will never be Shaq or Dream but then neither will anybody else for awhile it looks like

williams might very well become a top 5 pg. but we already have one of those. drafting him shouldn't really be an option. that's why we need to go with ming, a player we need, who based on position alone can have an equal or higher impact than jay williams.

If it was from anyone but Vitale i would give it some thought. DICK sucks more DUKE than a little bit. He is almost their official cheerleader.

H Town..........Yao Ming will never be another Shaq. but he will be the first Yao Ming, a much more versatile player than Shaq.with his own strengths .

I can't see the future, but I can see the NBA rosters, and I couldn't name you 10 quality centers NOW!
