If they'd just stick to that, I'd be a lot happier. I'm concerned about the progressive candidates using the anti-Trump momentum to springboard to a bunch of other policy innovations that the public isn't really down for. The last thing I want to be telling Democratic candidates is that they have to stand for more than a return to regular order.

This Alexandria Ocasio Cortez woman and her extreme left socialist/globalist platform is bringing a lot of unwanted questions about what the Democrats stand for these days.

why is Cortez the future of the party and not people like Conner Lamb, Doug Jones or any of the other moderate candidates that outnumber the Socialist?

You need to ask Tom Perez, the head of the DNC. It was he who stated she and other candidates like her are the future of the party.

This is a Republican talking point. Nothing more. The Republican Concern Trolls are filtering everything the Democrats are saying to build the case for their talking point.

Yeah, it's going pretty low, but in sum: "yes, our party is awful, our leader is nearly intolerable, but the democratic candidates are somehow even worse or, um, if not actually worse in a demonstrable way, they are more annoying and some of them have darkish skin!"

I wonder how much of this is just trying to get the Bernie crowd back after they screwed him over so bad in 2016 vs. the Democrat party going full r****d on socialism? Whatever the reason they are definitely openly embracing socialism more so than they ever have. I mean they have always been socialistic but always tried to re-brand it as something else where now they openly embrace it. I sincerely hope they keep it up.

If Republicans are truly anti-socialism, they would forever lose control of both Houses and the WH. SS and Medicare I suspect have 90+% approval rating in the reddest of red states.

Hmm... "openly embrace socialism more so that they ever have"? What, there were two before (Ellison and Sanders) and now they have three?

I think the problem is that so many actually have gone full r****d to the point where they don't even know what socialism is anymore. You've got people like Bernie Sanders calling Capitalist countries socialist simply to have an example of a socialist country that hasn't ended up absolutely screwed and I think that has confused a lot of ignorant people into thinking that every captialist country with any social programs are "socialist" and every country that actually is socialist isn't "real socialism". Basically there's not a lot you can do to fix stupid like that. You just hope their numbers stay small.

With all due respect, what a load of crap. The lady in question is not "extreme left." She's no more "extreme" than our European allies, who all have social systems similar to what she espouses. As for the source of your quote, it's from the propaganda arm of the GOP, Fox News. I watch Fox enough to keep track of the latest lies and excuses they continue to make in support of the disaster that is Mr. trump.

In the context of American politics, some of our European allies ARE extreme left. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find European leaders that wouldn't be too extreme left to be elected in this country in all but the most extreme blue districts.

The head of the DNC can no more dictate the future of the party than I can. He can have his opinion, but the future of the party will be determined by how many votes candidates can get.
