Well, of course everybody knows that the song is about getting a good education...

"He got monkey finger" - biology
    "he shoot coca-cola" - marketing
"He say 'I know you, you know me'" - Sociology
"He got feet down below his knee" - anatomy
"Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease" - pathology
"He roller-coaster he got early warning" - physics
"One and one and one is three" - math

This is off topic, but I got an email of a letter that Moore sent to Bush before the war broke out. Check it:

    Monday, March 17th, 2003

    George W. Bush
    1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
    Washington, DC

    Dear Governor Bush:

So today is what you call "the moment of truth," the
day that "France and the rest of world have to show
their cards on the table." I'm glad to hear that this
day has finally arrived. Because, I gotta tell ya,
having survived 440 days of your lying and conniving,
I wasn't sure if I could take much more. So I'm glad
to hear that today is Truth Day, 'cause I got a few
truths I would like to share with you:
    1. There is virtually NO ONE in America (talk radio
nutters and Fox News aside) who is gung-ho to go to
war. Trust me on this one. Walk out of the White House
and on to any street in America and try to find five
people who are PASSIONATE about wanting to kill
Iraqis. YOU WON'T FIND THEM! Why? 'Cause NO Iraqis
have ever come here and killed any of us! No Iraqi has
even threatened to do that. You see, this is how we
average Americans think: If a certain so-and-so is not
perceived as a threat to our lives, then, believe it
or not, we don't want to kill him! Funny how that
    works!

    2. The majority of Americans -- the ones who never
elected you -- are not fooled by your weapons of mass
distraction. We know what the real issues are that
affect our daily lives -- and none of them begin with
I or end in Q. Here's what threatens us: two and a
half million jobs lost since you took office, the
stock market having become a cruel joke, no one
knowing if their retirement funds are going to be
there, gas now costs two dollars a gallon -- the list
goes on and on. Bombing Iraq will not make any of this
go away. Only you need to go away for things to
    improve.

    3. As Bill Maher said last week, how bad do you have
to suck to lose a popularity contest with Saddam
Hussein? The whole world is against you, Mr. Bush.
Count your fellow Americans among them.

    4. The Pope has said this war is wrong, that it is a
SIN. The Pope! But even worse, the Dixie Chicks have
now come out against you! How bad does it have to get
before you realize that you are an army of one on this
war? Of course, this is a war you personally won't
have to fight. Just like when you went AWOL while the
poor were shipped to Vietnam in your place.

    5. Of the 535 members of Congress, only ONE
(Sen.Johnson of South Dakota) has an enlisted son or
daughter in the armed forces! If you really want to
stand up for America, please send your twin daughters
over to Kuwait right now and let them don their
chemical warfare suits. And let's see every member of
Congress with a child of military age also sacrifice
their kids for this war effort. What's that you say?
You don't THINK so? Well, hey, guess what -- we don't
    think so either!

    6. Finally, we love France. Yes, they have pulled some
royal screw-ups. Yes, some of them can be pretty damn
annoying. But have you forgotten we wouldn't even have
this country known as America if it weren't for the
French? That it was their help in the Revolutionary
War that won it for us? That it was France who gave us
our Statue of Liberty, a Frenchman who built
the Chevrolet, and a pair of French brothers who
invented the movies? And now they are doing what only
a good friend can do -- tell you the truth about
yourself, straight, no b.s. Quit pissing on the French
and thank them for getting it right for once. You
know, you really should have traveled more (like once)
before you took over. Your ignorance of the world has
not only made you look stupid, it has painted you into
a corner you can't get out of.

Well, cheer up -- there IS good news. If you do go
through with this war, more than likely it will be
over soon because I'm guessing there aren't a lot of
Iraqis willing to lay down their lives to protect
Saddam Hussein. After you "win" the war, you will
enjoy a huge bump in the popularity polls as everyone
loves a winner -- and who doesn't like to see a good
ass-whoopin' every now and then (especially when it's
some third world ass!). And just like with
Afghanistan, we'll forget about what happens to a
country after we bomb it 'cause that is just too
complex! So try your best to ride this victory all the
way to next year's election. Of course, that's still a
long ways away, so we'll all get to have a good
hardy-har-har while we watch the economy sink even
    further down the toilet!

But, hey, who knows -- maybe you'll find Osama a few
days before the election! See, start thinking like
THAT! Keep hope alive! Kill Iraqis -- they got our
    oil!!

    Yours,

    Michael Moore

Remember the Henry Kissinger incident at UT a few years ago?

A precedent has already been set about controversial speakers on campus.

The speech was cancelled because of an alleged organized protest of about 300 people, who planned to start chanting and yelling three minutes into his speech.

rezdawg, where did you get this message. Is it legit?

This message doesn't change my opinion on this guy: all flare, no substance.

Yes, it's legit. It's been on his website for the past week and a half. I didn't want to post it, because I didn't think it was worth the time.

I think the speech is going to sellout, but I'd get 2 tickets just to flush down the toilet.

LOL - We should be indebted to the French because they gave us the Chevrolet!!?? Well, whoop-de-damn do! I always knew there was a reason why I go with Nissan/Toyota/Honda and thanks Mr. Moore for giving me another reason to stay with what I got. That whole excuse for France is lame and makes me want to vomit. I have little doubt that America would still exist as a country regardless of France's involvement in the Revolutionary War. It might have taken 2 or 3 extra months for it to end, but that is about it. One thing, though, is that it is the one of the few times that France was still in it at the end AND on the winning side and that was more of a function of us helping them (as usual) then the other way around.

What a load of steaming bull**** from this sad individual. Thanks, rezdawg, for a good after-lunch laugh!

This letter made me think of a few quotes i try to apply to my life.

    1. Only a true friend will say, "hey you have a booger on your nose." I mean who wants to walk around with a booger on their nose, people that say they are your friend but not tell you about
the booger are not really friends. Sometimes we need people to tell us, hey something is not right. They may be right, or wrong in doing it, but at least they care enough to tell you. Who
knows, maybe some people like to walk around with a booger on their nose.

Also the great quote, we can disagree, but we don’t have to be disagreeable. I think that should be the mantra of people on this board, I don’t mind you guys think there is nothing wrong with
this war, really I don’t. I can see where most of you are coming from, but I do mind when people start making blanket statements and jabs at people who disagree with their point of view.
That’s being disagreeable, that annoys me to no end. I have not really said much about this war because too much is slammed down my throat.

SO Michael Moore disagrees with some of you here. awwwww, lets crucify the guy, we cant have anyone out of line, everyone has to fit into our little mold of thought and actions. I like the
fact that he says what he thinks, does he go overboard. yes, but that could be said about so many people here its not even funny. He is pissed about the election, as am I. But to put it into
perspective, I know people that are still pissed about much more trivial things than that, it comes with the political turf, something that has never happened in the history of the U.S. has
changed the way people think. Its going to stick around for awhile.

Do I agree with this war? I dont know, I have a hard time with these guys in Washington pulling all the strings for us to go to war, but risk very little in the real scheme of things. I mean only one person in congress has a family member in the military. What do they stand to loose, a job in politics? While our young men go out to defend our country and the idea of freadom. They fight sand storms, and a hidden enemy, every day their life is at risk, while the higher ups have to worry about what to eat for lunch, Shrip or Steak. Yeah its real fair. That is my problem with war, the people that will never have to face it are the ones deciding the fate of those who do. I just hope this is over quickly and our country can get back to whats truly important, taking care of itself.

and those who do joined the armed forces voluntarily, so i'm not really sure what your point is, or what the alternative might be -- an army full of politicians? or maybe, no armed forces at all?

I can't believe he cited the Pope as defense for his 'anti-war' position, and then acted like it was a big deal. Until now I thought the guy was at least intelligent.

    IVFL,

I appreciate your reminding everyone again about being agreeable when we do not agree.

I (I can only speak for myself) bash Moore not because of his anti-war stance. It's because of his insulting statements to the President without offering a bit of substantial argument. There are a lot of intelligent people who argue eloquently against the war. I appreciate those people but not this Moore guy.

Also, I don't agree that "these guys in Washington pulling all the strings for us to go to war. . . risk very little in the real scheme of things." While they might not be risking the lives of their loved ones, they are certainly risking their political career and even their names in history (just to name a few things). Do you really think that they are all selfish and have nothing to lose in this war?

The day our foreign policy is set by a guy who tried to goto Michigan is a sad day indeed. Oh an Go Bucks!
Even sadder is that he did not complete college yet he feels he has more knowledge of foreign policy than the administration.

    Oh well.

I don't know what to tell you, I guess we have our version of Rush Limbaugh now. Fun to listen to if you lean his direction for the most part, but intolerable to people who swing the other way.

Man, that letter reminded me that Bush went AWOL like a month before his time in the TX Air Nat'l Guard was up. When this war is over, and I can have my 1st ammendment rights back, I'm gonna ask about that again and I want somebody to explain that one to me without using the term youthful indescretion.

I heard this recently on T.V. and was written by a Veteran

    "TWO SIDES OF WAR"

All wars are planned by older men in counsel rooms apart
they call for greater armorment and map the battle chart
But out upon the shattered fields where golden hoofs are grey.
How very young the forces are where all their dead men lay
Poorly and solemn in their pride the elders cast their vote
For this or that or something else that sounds the war like note
But Where their sightless eyes stare out and garner all their joys
I’ve noticed rarely all the dead were hardly more than boys.

People in the government may pay good lip service to the need for war, but few have to face
what these boys are going through, because of this they are somewhat removed from the realities
that the soldiers have to face everyday. I just wonder if they did have to face it, their views
would change any. Or how they went about things. If anything, this just helps me understand
why people can be so adamant against war.
