    Paul Gasol to the Lakers

    Its a done deal!!!

    Memphis Commerical Appeal -
Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal has learned that the Grizzlies have traded Pau Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers for center Kwame Brown, rookie guard Javaris Crittenton and first-round draft picks in 2008 and 2010.

The decision was made that the Grizzlies could no longer move forward with Gasol on and off the basketball court.

If someone yesterday threw this trade scenario up on this board they would be laughed right out of town. Just goes to show you sometimes lopsided trades happen. Incredible deal for the Lakers here.

They can roll with a Bynum, Gasol, Odom frontline....or....they can finally move Odom to get Kidd. Basically they increased their trade assets.

The Memphis Grizzlies will send Pau Gasol and a future second-round pick to the Lakers for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, the unofficially retired Aaron McKie , the draft rights to Pau Gasol's brother Marc and future first-round picks in 2008 and 2010, NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

Pau got traded for his brother. LOL.

The Griz also traded ex-Rocket, Stromile Swift to the Nets for Jason Collins, its done and offical too.

I wonder if they are ready to cough up Mike Miller now that they are rebuilding???

Man, with the KG trade and now this it surely makes one think that. No way in hell should Gasol be had for an expiring and two very low #1 picks. That is BS to the fullest.

    Kobe has no excuses now….

Can we have Mike James + change for Mike Miller now? It seems the Grizz are having fire sales.

Well Heres the problem. Lakers starting line will look like this
    C: Bynum
    PF: Pau
    SF: Odom
    SG: Kobe
    PG: Fisher

Even though that looks damn good, I feel like theres to many big bodies in there. Who is gonna take the post, Bynum or Pau. They can't effectively do the triangle offense with 4 guys in Odom, Kobe, Pau, Bynum. If you take Bynum out. His numbers will drop and his development which the lakers management do not want to lose at all.

Nevertheless, Lakers will dominate on rebounding with pau, bynum, and odom and will definatley make the playoffs because its hard to lose games because of offense when you have kobe. This trade might have just screwed the bottom half of the western conference.

Rich get Richer and the Poor get poorer and move to new cities.

fire sales for expirings though. Mike James still has 2 years left. This would work:

Snyder, Bonzi (both expiring), Head (cheap), Francis (player option, buyout potential) for Mike Miller.

I hope the Rockets do a deal after seeing this......as long as Scola, Landry and Brooks aren't a part of it.

man oh man, this makes no sense for the Griz, unless they are expecting some better #1 slots than we can see happening.

Crittendon has some potential, but... the Griz need a young PG to develop? Uh, no.

Mike James + Snyder for Mike Miller will save the Grizz 5+ millions at least. James contract has the same year and less dollars.

MM may be 'had' for expirings and #1s. I hope D-Mo is inquiring...

I don’t see a problem at all. Bynum doesn’t get his points on plays that are set for him and he can rebound and finish. Odom can create for others. Odom, Gasol and Fisher can all shoot. And the Laker bench has been pretty good this year. They also have a lot of height defensively and Fisher is King flopper….

Man, it really sickens me to see us struggle to surround Yao and T-Mac with quality help when trades like this occur.

Yea I hope we can pry Mike Miller away. Not a superstar but he is what the Rockets sorely need right now.

Now they have both Gasols, Pau and Marc (drafted this year).
