    The best part about the edit trickery is the voice over question done in post production.

    Completely changes the context of a persons statement.

    Thus C-SPAN has a large viewing audience.

    Full transcript is all good for the few folks that enjoy it. Most wouldn't bother. PBS does this for some of their shows, even providing full video.

    Agree w both those points.

    But taping a studio interview, long form, naturally makes for chunks that are pretty dull and/or irrelevant to the main topics at hand. Or awkward throat clearings, snorts, scratches, farts, etc.
