Wow....I saw Jimmie Vaughn for the first time in a SRV tribute and he made me say the same thing....that if that little guy can play that stuff(and he has nowhere near the ability of SRV), then I can probably play some of that stuff, too.

For some reason, I'm currently on a trip back in time. I'm learning all the old "Frampton Comes Alive" tunes, especially the popular ones. My guitar heros if I had to put them out there are Jimi, SRV, David Gilmour, Alex Lifeson, Lindsay Buckingham, Jimmy Page(of course), Eddie Van Halen....oh hell...the list goes on and on. I love the David Gilmour/Pink Floyd and Rush guitar sounds so they probably represent the sounds I like the best. Of course, these are heavily processed sounds :). On another note, I was trying to learn Eruption(VH) using Super Tab.....not much success there...a little bit...but not much :( . I love the acoustic sound and playing acoustic oriented songs as well. I hate my acoustic Ovation big body guitar though...not to mention the electric pick-up broke. I still play it, though.

Guitar is fun...but it's so damn hard and you have play TONS to be any good. Still a good hobby, though. I tend to impress more than I depress those I play for .

I love guitar gear. Even more than bass gear, and I'm primarily a bass player. My lastest toy is a 1966 Vox AC-50 head. I still need to buy a cab for it, but old Vox cabs are hard as hell to find. I might look into getting a Telecaster myself, although I'd probably get one of G&L's copies (more consistent in quality than Fenders).

Surf, if you're having tuning problems, try this trick. When you first string up the guitar, tune each string to the desired pitch (EADGBE if you're in standard tuning). Then grab the string at approximately the 12th fret and pull it up and sideways gently. Then snap it against the fretboard. Re-tune your guitar and repeat once. Once you'e tuned your guitar for the third time, your guitar (if there's nothing wrong with it) should stay in tune.
