Me and you WMJ. I called it in the who could win rookie of the year besides Durant thread. ATL isnt a bunch of pushovers anymore. Horford is the real deal.
I was seriously considering posting a new thread every time the Mavs lose. I hate them with a passion....
Looking at the boxscore, looks like JJ carried them on his back. What a surprise! Al Horford (my choice for Rookie of the Year runner-up) had 10 rebs in only 23 minutes. That guy could end up being a monster in the NBA. I said before the draft he was the best player on Florida's team. If Acie Law IV grows up fast, the Hawks could contend for the 8th playoff spot.
Sure is. Even though it is early in the season, these losses and wins add up towards the end. We are always thinking "what if we had won that game" towards the end of the season.
It made me mad to Juwan running over to give Dirk high fives during timeouts. I hope he picks another fight with Mike James.
I don't who do you think would mean more to their team if they both get ejected Juwan Howard or Mike James?
It was Hakeem and Calvin. http://www.nba.com/hawks/feature/Joshes_Feature_Story_101907.html Smith traveled to Houston, Texas, where he worked out with future Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon and former NBA great Calvin Murphy. "My agent knew [Olajuwon] and asked him. He had no problem with it," said Smith, who fondly recalled watching "The Dream" on TV while growing up. "Working out with him, you look at his film, and actually just seeing him at work, you learn from what he did." Although Smith enters the 2007-08 season as one of the elite defensive players in today's game — last season he was second in the NBA in blocked shots (2.9 bpg), and was one of three players in the top 20 in rebounds, blocks and steals (Chicago's Ben Wallace and Phoenix's Shawn Marion were the others) — he recognized the value of picking up pointers from one of the game's all-time greatest inside presences. More important was his working on improving on the offensive end. "[I worked on] my post moves, being more finesse down there, being able to counter off my defensive player's moves," said Smith, who averaged a career-best 16.4 points per game, second on the team. "[Olajuwon] saw I was a little raw on the blocks so he kind of polished that up for me."
Law's a winner. He's one of those guys that doesn't always put up the numbers in the box score, but you love to have him. This Atlanta team has been my "early game" choice for the season because they're fun to watch. If Mike Woodson doesn't screw it up, they're going to surprise people. I predicted them in the playoffs (on another board, so I don't get bragging rights I guess).
