They probably knew they would drop the charges months ago but waited for the story to die down so they dont sound like reetards
The body cam footage is out. And you'll be shocked to learn that the officer instigated the whole thing while Ujiri did nothing wrong.
I can see why Ujiri is 100% in the right. But he barely flashed his pass / took out his pass for the person to look at before continuing to advance forward; he could have done a little better by letting the dude verify stuff before trying to get to the mess of NBA players. It's like if Ujiri was a 19 year old with a fake ID trying to get past the bouncer at a bar. Barely flashing it and then proceeding to go in, will get you pushback from the bouncer.
But the cop should never have shoved him. And the badge was still in clear view. Those badges have a particular color the minute it was flashed he should have looked at it not shove the guy twice as hard as he could. The officer is also suing but he is trouble because he has been part of an insurance fraud scheme in the past. He also claimed a swelled face and permanent injuries but the doctors said his face was fine and there are pictures and videos of him the next day looking fine while going out to eat with his wife and using a power saw. The cop was beyond shady.
the word of a cop means absolutely nothing whatever they say should be taken with a mountain of salt because chances are it will be a lie
Lies, what a surprise... I can't imagine the "help" being that aggressive against a white Bay Area suit even with a flashed badge. You don't know how many ways they can own you with that shove. More like "Sir, I can't let you in, I need to clearly see your ID"
The video was part of his countersuit, so he most certainly is suing the cop. Just another case of why police actions are so concerning. They spent 2 months looking at charging him when their own video made it clear the officer was in the wrong. Of course the officer wasn't even fired.
Cop looks like a MAGA dude. He's a security guard at a stadium, not guarding the president in Irag during a war.
In addition to the entire sheriff department, even his wife got into the act: "Plaintiff KELLY STRICKLAND is informed and believes, and hereon alleges, that the injuries to her spouse are of a permanent nature, and that she will be deprived of her love, companionship, comfort, care, services, assistance, protection, affection, society, and moral support, all to her further damage, and in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of this Court, and that she is entitled to prejudgment interest on that amount in accordance with law." warning... link leads to a PDF... https://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/NBA-assault.pdf Edit: Deleted some stuff that would push this post to d&d.
