I’m praying that this movie does well black people finally get a big budget superhero movie...I can’t wait to see this oh, and Marvel>>DC
It's amazing to me that this one generated so much hype. Panther isn't historically a big seller in the comics is he?
I hope this movie is great (I'd settle for really good), but I want to be careful about the hyperbolic early viewing comments on Twitter: "SO AWESOME IT NEARLY MADE MY HEART EXPLODE!!!!!!!!" We got the same sort of reactions to other movies that turned out to not be great. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to this. A lot. And it will tie in with Infinity War (in that trailer, you see Black Panther and Cap and Hulk and Widow and others charging across what seems to be an African plain).
Right it's just amazing to me the hype generated by a B level character historically. Guardians of the Galaxy for example was a great movie but didn't generate the up front hype that this one has. Is it a product of Marvel hitting so many homeruns that now the hype is self generating for any movie? Is that Panther looks so badass? Is it the "black superhero" part of it that is helping? Why were we all so sure ahead of time this movie was going to be awesome? I mean I was into it as SOON as I knew it would be a movie and I NEVER cared about the comic.
Being the First Black Hero with a 100 Mill budget definitely is a thing Plus the Marvel record of excellence (ANT MAN did well ) It seems to play into the Vein of the Captain America Movies which are MARVEL's best movies (Best SuperHero Trilogy IMO) Marvel KILLS in only lightly powered superheros [Meaning not the DC WORLDKILLERS or THOR AND HULK) Rocket River
The movie was being hyped before production even began. The producers and movie studio identified this one as a potential mega hit and cultivated it accordingly. Then during production there were leaks that the movie looked very promising. We will wait and see, but this isn't an entirely organic hyping of the movie. I will see it, and I expect it will likely be pretty good.
These "Initial Reactions" articles are pretty much everybody proclaiming it's the best movie ever, every time. Having said that...it'll probably be fine.
Marvel's track record is pretty damn spotless. They have ranged from spectacular at best, to an entertaining way to spend 2 hours at worst. Even their weakest movies (the first Captain America and the first 2 Thor's) I enjoyed. If this isn't at least good I will be shocked.
The hype for this movie is unreal it's making me nervous. Michael B. Jordan best villain since Loki? I hope so, this brother needs the work.
Mike B is becoming one of my Fav Actors His CREED was incredible Fruitvale station was Nice Him and Coogler are peas and carrots I even Watch the FF just to see him work Rocket River
I can't believe how little work he has gotten after some pretty great work. He has done NOTHING since Creed. His co-star in Fant4stick, Miles Teller, has had a million staring roles in movies since FF and Mike has had literally 1 or 2. It's crazy. Mike B's star was definitely higher than Miles Teller at that time too.. still no roles.
While I've liked most of his movies, him constantly being in my kool-aid on 2K means I've had my fill of Michael B. He's got 3 movies and a TV series slated, and was filming Black Panther last year. I'm sure he had offers, but he probably did the smart thing. Unless you get paid a lot, or it's a great film, there's no point in doing just any script that comes along.
Look at the cast of Black Panther then go through their imdbs. There were no offers. Everybody was available for this movie.. not by happenstance. This reminds me of Best Man Holiday. Basically a 20+ year reunion of an iconic piece of black cinema. EVERYBODY came back. EVERYBODY was available.
I think the movie will be great, but also why it is tracking well is black people will show up if you cater to us. That's why Girls Trip did better then expected and Straight Outta Compton did well. I plan to see it multiple times myself and have my advance tickets already. Please don't disappoint
I think a big part of it is Chadwick Boseman, who has been nothing but awesome so far (42, Get on Up, Marshall, as the Black Panther in Civil War). But wait... there's more: A hyped script that attracted Ava Duvernay initially. Ryan Coogler directing (Creed and Fruitvale Station were legit awesome). Michael B. Jordan... great actor and Adonis ****ing Creed is our villian. Lupita Nyong'o, Angela Bassett, Daniel Kayuula, Forrest Whitaker, Sterling K. Brown, Andy Serkis, Martin Freeman... I could keep going. Look at that cast. RIDICULOUS. A truly badass black comic book superhero movie has never really been made. We're LONG overdue so the hype has been percolating for decades... The Dora Milaje - an all female group of Wakandan body guards. Holy ****. This movie is going to kick ass... I hope.
