Can we SnT Capela for him next year? I worry about his age and athleticism not working with our system, but he's a much better player and can hit threes.

Rather have melo. Our center needs to be explosive and atheltic. Nothing against gasol but this is not what he is known for.
There are two types of centers that work. Let me explain how Marc Gasol is a perfect fit, and so is Capela. GSW won with a smart, passing big who was as slow as molasses...but was a very good defender nonetheless...and could drain the open midrange. Gasol isn't as good as a passer as Bogut, but better than Capela, he shot 39% threes on 4 attempts per game, so he's a legit Stretch 5, and he's a better defender (one of the best). If we had Gasol, we could run 5-out motion like GSW does. We could run their offense. Pick and pop vs roll. Passing from center position. Ability to invert the post with Gasol out and Harden or Melo inside. And still have Gasol asareal threat on the roll. And Gasol is a superior defender to Capela. Capela does one thing. Pick n roll. That's a great thing for this offense, but Gasol is a better cnetner in this age, now that he's a real 3pt shooting threat, stretch 5. He provides so many more options to an MDA offense than Capela.
I agree wih you on everything you said, but I have one question. What do the stats say about Gasol's ability to cover the PnR? How much PPP does he give up? I bet Capela's lateral quickness makes him a far superior PnR defender, although I might be wrong.
