I think the more important question is: what color is he? That way we can know if we can complain about white people some more and if this should be headline news for a week.

Another possibility is that the man was just being prepared in case an Asian woman masseuse made his nether regions dance with shameful joy.

With open carry laws I’m kind of shocked they were even able to arrest him before he started mass murdering everyone. Unless you posted death to America in Arabic online the night before, there’s no way he’ll be able to be prosecuted now and held in jail for longer than a cup of coffee.

This is example A. for why open carry laws are incredibly stupid.

This is such BS to allow this in America. Straight up intimidation or putting people in fear of violence with guys doing this crap.

This is the ridiculous cycle we're in. People say there are too many guns out there so we need to have more guns to defend ourselves.

Crazy pissed off people. Only in American among wealthy countries are they allowed to do mass killings.

Good we avoiding another mass shooting. Till next time.

I don't know the solution. It seems like a lost cause and part of the multi decade Long decline of this nation.

We can't ban weapons and do confiscations because that will cause more violence. We can maybe do private sale background checks and more thorough con regulation databases but that how much will that help and there are plenty of brainwashed right wingers who think that in itself is enough for an armed insurrection.

Thus is a deep rooted cultural issue that has been brewing for decades. I'm extremely pessimistic about this and just see a slowly dwindling nation.

I can see some moron kid that buys in 100% to the NRA's "point of view" doing this to "protect his rights".

Not sure people remember, but a couple of years ago there was a moron kid who walked into a Walmart with an AR15 right after a shooting and pointed his gun all around "because its his constitutional right" and was flummoxed when he was arrested.

This is one of the post I feel weird liking but agree with you. I think we can make marginal improvements such as with background checks and better tracking of weapons. I agree any serious efforts at confiscations will likely lead to much more violence. This needs to be a culture change.

It's kind of interesting, when you see a headline without a photo we often form a picture of the guy in our heads.

Hypothetical headline: lone gunman wanted to "wage Jihad on behalf of the prophet Mohammed". Now, the guy could be any anyone, but everybody sees that headline and they've already formed a picture in their head, including skin color and facial hair style.

With the headline rando walks into American supermarket with body armor and six guns, another image comes immediately to mind: a young white male with a neckbeard. Admit it: you saw him in your head.

There's always time to complain about white people. They do the damndest things.

What they did with machine guns took about 80 years, but in 1930 you could walk into a sporting goods shop and buy a full auto BAR or tommy gun over the counter with cash with no check and no wait. Now machine guns are so prohibitively expensive and so limited that you basically need to mortgage your house to buy one and if you are able to jump through the hoops required to get approval (not easy at all), you're still going to spend 6 months waiting for the ATF to sign off. I dont have any friends that own one and more likely than not, neither do you.

If you want to do "something about it" you're going to need to think on those time frames or even longer.

AR15's suffer from the same phenomenon that affects pit bulls. The type of insecure paper tough guy that buys a dog and turns it into a viscious killer naturally gravitated to the breed, because all the other paper tough guys have done the same.

If you ban them, they'll move on to a different gun, an AK or a FAL or something. AR specific bans are just going to shuffle the deck. I get why people are looking at it but it won't change anything.

I agree but that is why bans can't be based on appearance and certainly not model. This has to be based on function.
