For those of you who are saying MDA isn't a good coach and that we need someone else: Why is it that the guys recognized most often around here as good or great coaches aren't doing as well as we've been doing the last three years? Snyder, Stevens, Pop, Carlisle, Doc, Spoelstra, etc. None of these guys are having as much success as MDA is having with the Rockets. Yet a mediocre coach and a rookie coach are in the finals.

I know the goal is to win a chip, but that's insanely hard to do, and MDA's consistent regular season success gives us a high seed in the playoffs every year and gets us home court advantage for the first two rounds (would've had it this year if not for the Nugs getting Nuggy those last couple of games).

I still recall vividly how much of a struggle it was under McHale and JB, and how we got knocked out in the first round 1-4 and 2-4. Here are the playoff records of our coaches post-Rudy:

MDA - 23-16
JB - 1-4
Milkhair - 13-16, missed playoffs twice
Adelman - 9-19, missed playoffs twice
JVG - 7-12, missed playoffs once

In 13 years with those last four guys, we got into the 2nd round twice with 7 1st-round exits and 4 seasons missing the playoffs altogether. And Adelman and JVG were very well-respected coaches.

This should be fun.

In any other argument, say when why we haven’t been able to beat the Warriors is discussed .... talent difference isn’t an acceptable “excuse”

But let me guess.... in this instance talent difference will be an acceptable “excuse” as to why other coaches did worse than MDA

And the thing is, I'm not crazy about D'Antoni. I think he has flaws as a head coach, but they ALL do. Every head coach has areas that infuriate the fans of that team. But MDA, even with his flaws, has had more success than anyone since Rudy and has gotten us closer to a trophy than anyone since Rudy. Until last year, the most recent time we won 3 games in a WCF was 1995.
