Probably the movie that sticks with me the most and has the least amount of fanfare than it should is: Holy Smoke by Jane Campion. It is hard to even discribe this movie, but if you like the surrealist (with a message) aspects of Quinton Tarantino films this movie is right up your ally. Harvey Keitel and Kate Winslet were never better than in this film. This film deserves a lot more attention than it gets.
Oh yeah, if you are interested in Holy Smoke! it is playing on Netflix. And yeah it has feminist leanings however it has more in common with say, Black Snake Moan and Pulp Fiction than you might think. And if you are a Kate Winslet fan (her acting) I am! This is a must see.
don't know how obscure these are, but, in no particular order: Starman Spoiler Local Hero Spoiler Choose Me Spoiler A Soldier of Orange Spoiler
no that obscure but after hours was funny. I like the sleeper by woody allen as well. fairly under the radar but fun.
I am watching INK right now, about 1/4 through and it's different and interesting so far. I have no clue what it's totally about so it's kind of a mstery at this point. Sci-Fi ish and spirit driven. Will finish tonight likely.
Better Luck Tomorrow directed by Justin Lin long before he got into Fast and Furious. Enjoyed it a lot when I was younger

Appleseed Stardust Perks of Being a Wallflower Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist Fly Away Home Breakdown
Not really an obscure movie, but I don't think too many people have seen this gem! I saw it when it first came out and have seen it several times since. ....... ....... .......
The Big Blue -- Jean Reno, Rosanna Arquette, Jean-Marc Barr -- a unique story centering on ultra-deep no limit freedivers (500+ feet on a single breath). <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/82onGmBx9ZM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
